I'll make my single comment regarding this and I will not make another: Freedom is not free. Tyrants can and do, rise to the top. Look at the latest in Myanmar.

Suggestion: Google "Joseph Goebbel quotes". Then consider the internet, the super highway for information.

Actually, I don’t think the point is political. Sure misinformation has damaged our politics, but it has also impaired other societal needs like our ability to respond to COVID and climate change. Neither of which should be political. Misinformation has made them political because there is no shared facts.

Media in general has been and become a major tool for those that wish to control the minds of those who might be able to see/hear it and an agenda of those that wish to stir things up. After all, commercials would be useless to the companies producing them if they didn't pay for extra airtime of them. But I digress. It's ironic that all the mayhem and debacle that's been devised regarding the whole delivery issues from Nikon of their flagship Z9 was nearly manufactured by said media (and in a few cases dealers that had NO business spreading lies and misrepresentations.). Keep in mind that virtually NONE of these misrepresentations came directly from Nikon themselves, they were all rumors or statements begun entirely from companies OTHER than Nikon themselves. So, I guess we have nobody to blame but ourselves for being sucked into these lies and misrepresentations. All I can say is it's too bad we now live in a world where if you WANT something being able to pay for it and order it doesn't result in your GETTING it. I do however remember a time when that applied. But that's the "new world" we now live in. Oh well......

I don’t see why anyone would pay that. It’s not like a GPU where it’s being used for crypto mining.

You can click on the number of bids and the various bidders who bid - in fact the starting price was $5,000.
To say that someone wouldn't pay that isn't true--there's always someone who is desperate enough to do something like that and the bid history on this listing proves it.

It does happen, it happened to me back in 2012 when d800 was released, but that much for z9, it's hard to believe.
I wanted d800 so I put my name on the list at local shop.
Amazingly, they got it in first wave, and I picked it up.
After few days, I realized, it was too much camera for me, d700 was still more than enough.
I listed it for what I paid for on Kijiji, and I received more than 20 e-mails in 10 min.
One of them offered me $300 extra, but he wanted me to deliver it, about an hour drive.
It happened to be a journalist who was supposed to fly to an assignment next day and he badly needed that camera.

I can see the GPU price. I have an FE RTX3090 that I paid $200 over the MSRP to some local craiglister last November. I was building my PC and needed a GPU and lower tier GPU had the same markups. So I just paid for the 3090.
