The Nikkor Z 70-200 f/2.8 VR S is available from the Nikon USA site. See the link here:

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/mirrorless-lenses/20091/nikkor-z-70-200mm-f%252f2.8-vr-s.html

Obviously they are not making them fast enough for current demand as they are not available lots of places, but the lens is out and a few FM members (Lance for one) have gotten copies of it. No doubt Nikon could do better with keeping up with the demand for this lens as well as the 300 and 500 PF lenses as well.

Steve, Link doesn't work but it is listed as currently back-ordered if you get to the buy page.

Canon and Sony are both selling 7lb - 400 f2.8 and 600 f4 lenses while Nikon is still selling the 8.5lb lenses.

Nikon does not have the capitol to compete and this should have been an Olympic year for the 400 2.8.

I can't believe I spent 15 minutes scanning through 6 pages of this shite!
Why is it necessary to bring your brand bashing crap onto the Nikon board. We are all aware that the Sony fan boys are taking their victory lap, the the Canon fan boys are high fiving their mega-corporate success, and that the Nikon shooters continue to take pictures.

If you don't like Nikon, great...
If you do like Nikon, ignore threads like these; I wish I did...
To quote President Number 43, “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”

In New York the saying is "fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me."

To your edit - I knew you had to be quoting GWB.

I know the correct expression, but this thread is so flip'n foolish that I thought I'd quote President G. W. to make the point...

I don't think that discussing the business issues facing companies is the same as brand bashing. These are real issues, and worthy of people's interests.

The allegation made in the OP is that Nikon is in such bad shape, and has such a negative view of the camera market going forward, that it is actively shopping for a buyer for its camera division.

If true, then it is a significant event in the camera industry, and of interest to many photography enthusiasts. If Wheeler made it all up, then it is slanderous and bashing on his part. But since there is no way at this point to know the veracity of Wheelers statement, most comments here are discussing the issue from the point of view of does it make sense considering Nikon's current sate of affairs. Whether Wheeler is a fraud or not, in the context of this discussion, I believe most are sincere and not just bashing. There is room for all kinds of points of view on such things.

It worked earlier, but it looks like I had the last one in my cart by mistake which sent it into backorder. I removed it from my cart so someone else should be able buy it shortly.

There was a point in the middle of the thread about content like this serves only to spread FUD and this is the kind of stuff that will continue to spiral out of control and fester into a self-fulfilling prophecy because bad rapport doesn't go away, even in the face of facts. Case in point: OP literally just posted a few hours ago:

On a similar note, hopefully Nikon is able to release the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens --
"Sooner rather than later".

It's already been out now but OP is still in the state of mind to think and hope that it'll only be out "sooner rather than later".

So no, not all content deserves the attention and TAP has built himself a reputation as a provocateur and he's not the only one. We don't have to give them the attention. We do however have to open the curtains every now and then to let the sun shine on the mouldy spots and call out FUD content like that to keep it from growing.

And to this threads credit that post was promptly corrected for the poster and any others who were similarly misinformed.

That shows the value of such threads.

This is the first time I actually watched one of his vids all the way through.
He had very little to say, and said it over and over and over again. A Vile person.

Anytime a Stock goes from say ₯ 2363 JPY (Dec 31, 2017) to approx. ₯ 789 JPY (earlier today)...
I don't think that the average Shareholder is going to be too happy -- With that type of awful performance.

No problem. Everybody knows that the lens was 'announced' at the beginning of 2020.

However, it is now Eight (8) Months later... And it still is not 'readily' available (or out there) here in Canada or the USA.
Therefore, if it is not available... The company is not making any money on those 'prospective' sales -- At this time.

Ask me in 10 and 15 years.

Yeah, and each iteration works better regardless of ergonomics.

Name a Nikon Z camera, or a Nikon S series lens that has lasted even 5 years. That is only 1/2 the standard you are setting for the Sony equipment. Plenty of Sony a7 series, and Sony lenses have lasted that long. No Nikon mirrorless ICL camera or native lens has. There are no Nikon Z/S cameras or lenses that old for the very same reason that there are no a7 cameras 10 years old. It is a silly silly question you ask.

The dimensions of Nikon bodies decreased as they moved to mirrorless. This is a function of the cameras no longer needing a big fat mirrorbox. It has nothing to do with durability.

As you can see, this whole line of questioning is actually a meaningless proposition. Straight nonsensical logic.

Imagemaster's statement of B.S. seems valid enough.

it does't make sense for nikon to release an update for an f-mount at this time. who're the targeted buyers?

and where are the equivalent canon & 120-300/2.8, 150-400/4, 500/5.6 & 300/4 pf? and where's is the sony 800/5.6?

I'd rather go back to the days before I even considered stuff like this. Nikon has a business. I take photos. Hopefully if the are having issues with something they can get it figured out so that I can buy cameras and lenses from them if I want

But it really isn't my concern if they are making money or not. It is, but I'd rather just concentrate on images. And buying any needed or possibly wanted equipment. Just not that interested in speculation every time they have a bad quarterly report. I shoot Canon, and don't want them to fail, or Nikon, but if they do, buying used is an option like I have for years and hopefully figure out something else in the meantime. But do I want to worry about it every time business is off? Are there any camera companies that you'd buy stock in mow?

This guy says his friends said so. I haven't followed him, and can't tell you how accurate his predictions are. I would have preferred some sort of verifiable info or explanation of readily available financials.
