Are any of you that are experiencing lockups on 1.1.1 NOT using the battery grip?
I've had battery grip on for my lockups. I've shot one morning without it because I needed 12FPS and don't have a spare LP-E6N or NH and didn't have a lockup. But I've also shot for a day with grip and not had a lockup so I'm not sure that is very helpful.
The one lockup I've had, I was on the original FW version without a grip. I've not had any since loading 1.1.1 FW.
But other have and it seems to be very random and somewhat rare occurrence.

Considering I've run every FW and lenses including a 50, 85,16-35, 24-105 (EF/RF), 70-200, 100-400, 500, 1.4 and 2x TC's without as much as a hiccup other than experiencing some EVF stutter when the battery level dropped around 30%, I feel pretty lucky. Then again, I shoot almost exclusively stills in ES without a grip and perhaps it will change once I switch to MS for sports?
It started to me happening basically on a daily basis, with RF70-200 and the 400DO. Can't tell a pattern. Always have to pull the battery and then it's all good. No battery grip.

Did you try reinstalling the firmware? The 1.1.1 update was a little funky and the camera sat there looking like it wasn’t doing anything for a while. If you pressed some buttons in the process it might have corrupted the update?
No lockups for me, other than 2 instances where I had to shut it down, remove, and re-insert the SD card due to some kind of card reading failure. Not sure but it might be a card issue.

I did not reinstall it, seems weird. I did it with a full battery and let it sit there without interrupting it, I'm pretty sure about that. Of course it freezes at the most inconvenient moments, but that's Murphy.
I have now had 2 Canon R5s. The first one had all sorts of issues. Constant error 70s. And even bricked multiple cards loosing everything on the card to the point of ruining the files that were seen/recovered by a dozen or so programs. Even paid expensive ones. This was during photos and videos. Got another R5. The first shoot and the camera froze exactly like seen in the video. No loss of files yet. New R5 freezes, screens (except top screen) goes black. Battery pull required.
Same here R5 locks up, especially Focus, it just wont work, have to shut off and restart, screwed me up on a few good shots, Called Canon, didn't have an answer

My one lock up was on 1.1.1 and I have no grip. Honestly, I wasn't even shooting at the time of the lock up, just moving switches on my lens.
Its odd to me that the variation is so high. People like me... have very few lock-ups in thousands of frames, while others are dealing with it nearly each time they use it. Odd.
The only thing I'll add is, when I shoot, pretty much all of the settings I have on the camera stay pretty much where they are with the exception of ISO, AV, TV. I just don't move stuff around very often. The one time I tried new stuff for the sake of trying new stuff, it freezes. So after that... I just set it and forget it, for the most part.
I had to send mine in to Canon for repair, had a month and continued to lock up, miss focus even on stlll objects, I was getting on average maybe 7% keeper rate. Most just missed focus and/or were not sharp. Very disappointing for a top of the line camera. I hope they can figure out what is wrong
My R6, w/grip, flickers in the EVF, then goes black, and locks up. I have to shut off, then then back on, to get it to clear. I've missed SO many shots having this happen. It's frustrating, that's for sure.
