Thanks for the pics, looks legit to me. Seem like reasonable specs too. Anyone think that viewfinder is bigger than the 350D? *Crosses fingers*
Whats with the horizontal and vertical lines in the two images?
The photos may ne faked, but the look and specs may be accurate.

This XTi pic is the first real "big leak". I believe it is legit. I am surprised we haven't seen more leaked images- of the lenses.
This would be the first time that the Rebel line would exceed the XXD line in megapixles.. Kind of surprising, unless a 30D update is coming.
I would not be surprised to see a disappointing announcement of just the XTi, and two lenses. I hope there's more to it, but Canon has disappointed with their announcements vs. the hype of late..
We've all pretty much accepted the 350D/XT is going to be replaced by the 370D/400D/XTi/whatever you want to call it, with just a bit of debate over the details.
BUT...
I believe the 5D is also going to get a successor. It's been out long enough for it to fit in canons replacement cycle, but also, some retailers are listing it as "end of line", ie: the canon reps have told them to sell them before the new model comes out.
And yes, i have some evidence to support this hypothesis: http://dirtcheapcameras.com.au/store/index.asp
On the right handside of that page, the 350D, 5D, and D70s are all listed as end of line.
Still seems a little too early for Canon to put a higher frame rate into its entry-level dSLR. Maybe when faster throughput is supported and it's entire line of EOS products are getting a significant upgrade in that department, but not until then. In fact, seems to me like the only two ways the XTi has improved framerate is if it's either an insignificant gain (3->3.5fps) or we're looking at a new processing engine and what-not.

The 'Pope' has spoken...he seems confident of a 1DsIII- or at any rate he said he was happy - and he has sold some of his 1DsII's in expectation of a 1DsIII, so I would have thought he would be very unhappy if it was much delayed - they usually release their lower cameras late August, and the pro cameras the week before Photokina, so it should be good - he is one of the best sources of info going.

I saw that aswell. And seeing as the D70s already has its successor, the 350D is 90% sure to get it's successor in 2 days so the only camera on that list with no known successor would be the 5D. If this store actually has correct info... will we be seeing a 5Dn or a 5D MKII?
Possibly with an OLED screen and/or weather sealing? What about the 30D?
Am I the only one who would like to see an APS-C sensor sized P&S? With say a 20-40mm equiv f2 zoom? Hotshoe..... a G6 like camera, a perfect companion for wedding photogs for the grab shots.
And frankly, I think the dust-off function would be by and far the most long-over-due feature on that supposed Rebel Xti. I would kill of that on my MK2

If you follow the links to the actual cameras, the 5D is listed as new. I suspect it's just a mistake.

This is definitely interesting! The only definite thing I pull out of this whole discussion is that there is going to be a succesor for the 350D. Although IMO it is not going to see an increase in MP, why not? It simply doesn't make sense. The 30D would not have been launched beack then in feb. with the certain knowledge it would be surpassed by the entry level model.
Second interesting thing: What is going to happen with 5D. We have seen the australian remarks and here in Europe we have been seeing some serious extension of the 300euros rebate on the 5D (it should have ended June 30th and has now been extended thru October 31st in many countries like Netherlands, Germany and others. I wouldn't have a clue on wether we are going to see any major developments on the model, definitely no weather sealing...
I guess I just don't understand how close this is going to be to the 30D. I know the build/rear command dial, but that may be about it and more megapixels.
Strange I guess... I'm sure it will all become more clear in 2 days.
Wasn't there a time not so long back that the 10D (6MP) was the cheaper model, but had more MP than the 1D (4MP) ?? So, it's not out of the question that the 370 could have more than the 30D.
The 30D has other things going for it, like command dial, better ISO functionalilty, mode FPS, probably larger buffer (my guess is they will still cripple the 370 buffer) + more.....
The 370 is aimed at the entry level where most people look at the MP count and not much else. I have heard them in the local shops, and MP is all they care about......
"If the specs are accurate, the XTi will kill the 30d for sure. We are not only talking about mpx but featurewise the 2 cams will be nearly equal"
It has been my view for some time that the current 350D is already nearly the equal of the 20D/30D. Hard to imagine that Canon would continue to market an 8 mp 30D and a 10+ mp 350-equivalent for very long.
These changes do seem like a mess for Canon. But they have actual sales figures to create strategy. We're just guessing. I don't see a new 5D now. That is a differentiated model. The challenge seems to be the XTi/30D position in the market.
If the new XTi is 1.6crop/10mp, it will be an attractive camera for many people. I would want it as an option to pair with telephotos, assuming it has a considerably higher pixel density than the 1 series.
I'm figuring there has to be an update to the xxD series in the next few weeks - or a lowering of the 5D price I guess.
I just can't seen Canon not having a competitive camera (xti will be more competitive) between say $1,000 and nearly $3,000 for much of the financial year - especially when Nikon has a camera in that range, Sony will have one in that range (7 replacement), Pentax will possibly have one (10) and Olympus may have one (E3?) - ok, these other manufacturers have not been so hot in actually delivering these beasts.
Since Canon has gotten your attention with all the 'rumorware' cameras and the "Ultima Featherweight IS L EFs" Lens they 'Canon' will not be announcing anything new other than announce continued rebates. Many will be disappointed that they waited for the announcements to buy, after a week or so those that held off buying will finally buy and Canon will lower the old inventories then once they are nearly depleted they will surprise everyone with the single new offering to replace all other cameras and lenses.
You know the multi crop (FF,1.3,1.6 and MF) weather sealed with 8fps, 22MegaPixels, comes with an ultra light zoom (only 4 oz using the latest technologies) F1.8 10-600mm L EF-S and image stabalization and prime quality capability, self cleaning digic III sensor, and a print button, and a specially designed tripod button, press it and out of the camera comes a tripod totally setup. Press it again and the tripod retracts back into the camera.
Specially priced at $500 before rebate
Of course this will be a limited edition camera with limited availability.
