But the 70-200 f4 probably out sells the 2.8 version 3 to1. So it's not about what NEEDS to be updated and more about what will make the most money being updated.
What I want to know is if we will see a drop in the price and/or rebate for the 5D. I'm really hoping for a MkII model to push the price on the original downward.
I can only imagine how amusing this thread must be to read for those who have in their hands a prototype of the new 1ds or rebel xti or whatever. Or those who have inside knowledge.
Kinda like watching a dog chasing its tail, I suppose...

I heard this in another forum, too. It seems like Canon is leaking like a sieve. It would be too much of a coincidence for everyone to have come up with the same rumor out of thin air. I think it really is FACT!

In the internet era such things are very likely. One says something and others simply quote him. If the original poster is wrong, a million successive quotes still do not make it right.
1) An unknown poster on another forum says that commonly predicted camera and lenses are coming.
2) Some people say, "Sounds reasonable"
3) Others link to his "factual" statement
4) Different forums are picking up on the rumor
5) Someone says Canon's secret has been let out of the bag, because the rumors are so similar
6) Check drawer to see if deed for Brooklyn Bridge is still there.
7) Realize that many on FM have predicted since March that a new Rebel, new 50mm, and new 70-200 are on their way, then go quietly back to bed, only to wake up on the 24th.
Heres my thought on this situation: If the 370d stuff is true - more megapixels, higher fps, 30D's 9 point AF, then I think the next xxD is going to be full frame.
I don't think they will make the xxD full frame...
First, that would kill their crop lens sales...
Second Sportshooters would look bad.... oh, you only have a 1.25 crop....
The 1.25 crop for sport shooters is great because it gives them extra reach....
I think 1.6 1.25 1.0 will be here for a good long time..
What I'd want is a 1.6x weather sealed camera with a 2.5-3" OLED display and 21-point AF with a true spot meter for around 2000€. Either 8 or 10 megapixels.

Thanks for the pics, looks legit to me. Seem like reasonable specs too. Anyone think that viewfinder is bigger than the 350D? *Crosses fingers*
I agree, I think that XTi looks very plausible. I bet the viewfinder is exactly the same as the XT. If that camera is real, there are two things I dont like. 1. Still only one dial. 2. Now there is only the one display, you MUST use the LCD for every setting setting change.
Despite those things, they are making a great camera a little better for the entry level...I bet they sell em in spades.
It does look legit - makes me wonderwhat went wrong with the 30D launch. Maybe just went for a refresh of the 20D after the D200 came out, and decided to spend more time making a better camera.
I just can't believe it was the plan to have the 30D out there before Christmas with a cheaper 370D (xti) also on the shelves offering more (or at least very similar) features at a lower price.
