The AF was one concern. Was not thrilled with the x100vi. That said in fairness I had an A1 and RV at the time. So my expectations were pretty high. The body and knobs felt cheap to me as well. That was my first Fuji camera and I think I just expected more based on all the hype. The third disappointment was the noise the lens made. Didn't care for that at all. Those 3 things are what turned me off. This time I'm going in with lower expectations. I plan use the voigtlander 27mm f2 as an EDC. So can't blame AF The 13 an 27mm viltrox i picked up have good reviews but we will see once i get the camera. Right now I have 3 Fuji lenses and no body. So before I buy anything else I figure I should wait to get my X-E5 first. I'm excited about the pairing with the 27mm. We will see.

What are your concerns about the X-E5? I know for myself the X100VI not accepting interchangeable lenses was my biggest one I had so I know the X-E5 solves that. The other is the EVF resolution but I already have that with two of my Sony bodies. The key there will be Fuji’s implementation itself. Curious what other concerns you might have.

Just noticed my B&H XE5 kit combo pre-order status changed from "backordered" to "New Order" this morning. I ordered within 1 or 2 minutes of going live.
Historically, "new order" status means they ship soon after ... will see!

Beat me, my email confirmation came in at 26 minutes past go live.
For those who have had their X-E5 go from back ordered status to New Order can you comment on the color (silver or black) and the style of kit (body only or with XF 23/2.8). Thank you.

Kit in black.
Edit: Actually my order at B&H still says backordered. But the item listing page has changed to "new item -coming soon" without an estimated date.

I ordered the hand grip and thumb grip from SmallRig like two months ago. It didn't show backordered or anything so when it didn't show after a while I contacted them and they said they aren't allowed to release them until the cameras starts making their way to the stores. Got a confirmation that they have shipped today...so there's that lol

I didn’t want to pay the shipping fee so I waited until Amazon US had the grip listed. I just received it. So I have the grip, screen protector, wrist strap, new memory card and a couple SmallRig batteries from Prime Days. Just need the body now!!

The 35/2 is a really great lens, maybe one of their best. It's overshadowed by the 35/1.4 so people overlook it
At one point I had both the 35mm f/1.4 and the 35mm f/2 lenses for almost a month. (I already owned and extensively used the former, and I purchased a camera that came with the latter as a bundle.)
Reviews at the time had described various differences between the lenses. The f/1.4 was said to be much sharper, for example, and the f/2 was said to AF much faster. I was on the fence about which I would keep, especially if the f/2 turned out to be significantly better than the older f/1.4.
So I tested both extensively, essentially side-by-side, using my 24MP XPro2. I inspected and compared files at 100% (and higher) magnifications and I made prints.
In the end I decided that maybe, possibly, if I looked super close on the screen and switched back and forth between 100% magnification images from the two lenses long enough, I could maybe persuade myself that the f/1.4 has very so slighlty better sharpness in the furthest corners. Maybe.
I also decided that there was no noticeable difference in the AF performance of the two lenses, even though I was predisposed to expect it to be better with the f/2.
(I ended up keeping the f/1.4 since I do night street photoraphy, and I thought that the larger aperture might come in handy at times.)
Conclusion? If you want/need f/1.4, get the f/1.4 lens. If you are fine with f/2, the f/2 lens is great, too, and less expensive and even smaller.

I got my hand grip and leather case/strap both from Smallrig today (B&H). Was surprised as they had showed coming soon. Now I have everything. 3 lenses, screen protector, batteries, grip, case and no camera Best Buy is saying I should have it by Thursday. Fingers crossed

I went with the f/1.4 because I also have the 18mm f/2; they can share the hood, caps, and filters. Handy for a two-lens setup. I also like the slightly closer focus of the f/1.4.

My mom-and-pop has received shipment and is processing orders starting 8/14; I have to imagine a few stores will inadvertently jump the gun and ship early.
In the meantime, I'm having a bit of an existential crisis: black or silver?

I know it’s not as popular but I’m not interested in showing off a camera with lots of chrome. I always go with a black body even if the silver/chrome body is visually more attractive. Just an opinion of one. Take care.

Ah, that’s why they called me, to ask if I wanted a silver one earlier or wait for the black ones. Since I only use black cameras, that was an easy choice. I think silver cameras stand out too much.
