The X-E5 improved build quality gives me hope that Fuji has listened to the complaints of quality issues in the recent models. I really wish the X-T5/50 successors receive the same treatment.
What build quality issues are you talking about? I have both the X-T5 and X-T50 and have no issues nor complaints. I have been shooting Fuji since the X-T1 and have liked all of them and had no issues. My current ones are the best yet.

Have you done a direct comparison between images taken with either 18/2 and 35/1.4 on both a 26 Mpixel and 40 Mpixel? That is the comparison I’d like to see. Even if there is not a difference I can see still using the older lens if you have moved on to the new higher resolution sensor if you already own the glass. But if you don’t own any lenses yet i would like to see the comparison I suggest.
I've done comparisons, as I have both lenses and cameras with 40mp, 26mp and 16mp respectively. Before asking this questions you need to think about what you are using your images for and what you consider could be improved with your current set up. At normal viewing size on 28inch 4k screen, there is barely any discernible difference between the different sensors and those lenses. This shouldn't be surprising because a 4k monitor resolves about 8mp. More obvious are the slight colour and noise changes as the Fuji x trans sensor has evolved.
When viewing at 100 per cent the images from the 40mp sensor look at bit worse, but this is not surpising, as 40mp at 100 per cent is a much bigger enlargement than 16mp at 100 per cent.
If your goal is to pixel peeple your images at 100 per cent, then Fuji's newer lenses are mostly better, but I'm not sure why this would be anyone's goal.

Need to think about it more but I thought it would be a comparison of images at the same physically large print size of 20 x 30 inches or 16 x 24 inches or 11 x 17 inches that allows you to compare them for wall hanging. Or as big as A2, A2+, or A1 sizes.

At a print size of 24 inches I would expect any differences to be far more dependent on the individual photo, technique e.g. use of tripod, shutter speed), quality of bokeh, etc, than resolving power of lenses. My largest print is 40 inches and was taken with ancient Canon Fd 20mm f2.8 on a 24mp Sony body. It looks as good as anything taken on a more modern lens. A tripod and f8-11 is a great leveller for all lenses. At more open apertures I'm more interested in the way lenses render than outright sharpness. The older Fuji lenses have some character. The newer ones tend to be more neutral.

For me, especially X-T5 felt like a toy compared to X-T1 & X-T2. Especially top knobs. Sure, nothing serious, just a personal feeling (but I'm not alone thinking this - heard this complaint often from others as well). Otherwise a great camera. Currently I have the X-T30II and a Sony A7III but I've been eyeing the X-T50. Would love to handle it sometime, but here in Finland it's pretty hard to get hands on without buying it.

Interesting, I had the X-T1, X-T2 and X-T3 and think the X-T5 is superior to all of the earlier models. In addition to the X-T5, I have an X-T50 and it is my favorite Fuji camera. The size, feature set and quality of the X-T50 is outstanding, IMHO

I have my XPro-2 bought new in late 2015 and still like carrying that. I hope for an XPro-4. So I pre-ordered a 23mm by itself. Yes, I should have ordered a "kit" and sold off the body... I thought the extra time until the little 23 was available by itself would allow more complete reviews., because 35mm equivalent is *my* EDC focal length (25 years shooting professionally and personally with a Leica M2 in my bag - and 2014-2022 with Fuji's X100T.)
The Fuji 23mm f2 was shaped well for the optical viewfinder but never was appealing enough to buy.
Some in-depth 23mm tests should be showing up soon if the production units are ready enough to be included in kits delivered 8/14.
If I knew an XPro-4 was on the horizon I'd wait to buy the Voigtlander 23 f1.2
That lens is not a good fit for the XP2, sadly. I came within hours of buying one. thankfully someone pointed out the limitations of of the XP2 for use of any of the contacts on the Voigtlander.

Just canceled my Amazon X-E5 order after receiving and using the Sony RX1R MkIII. It is such a brilliant little camera - no need for an APS-C small camera anymore. Will keep my old X-Ts and X-Pros, though.

Not at all. How could I otherwise use my Fuji lenses, and the X-Pro3 is still fun. Just no need for a small body anymore. My intention was to use the X-E5 with the 23mm and crop. Then came the RX1 as a surprise and it delivers.

Funny, I'm the opposite. Placed an order for the X-E5. B&H even delivered the lens I bought for it today and I don't even have a body yet If Sony just would have kept the tilt screen I'd buy it. But without it that's a no buy for me. Figured I waited 10+ years for the RX1riii. I can wait for the RX1riv when they fix that big mistake. In the mean time I had tried the X100vi and was not a fan of a couple things with that. This X-E5 hopefully address's a couple things and is more versatile. If I don't like it, Oh well I'll just sell it here.

What are your concerns about the X-E5? I know for myself the X100VI not accepting interchangeable lenses was my biggest one I had so I know the X-E5 solves that. The other is the EVF resolution but I already have that with two of my Sony bodies. The key there will be Fuji’s implementation itself. Curious what other concerns you might have.

Just noticed my B&H XE5 kit combo pre-order status changed from "backordered" to "New Order" this morning. I ordered within 1 or 2 minutes of going live.
Historically, "new order" status means they ship soon after ... will see!

^yeah with the X100VI I learned that minutes may equal months! So if I'm remotely interested I order immediately and then cancel the next day or so if regretting after watching the 5,000 first impression / review videos.
