This is a camera I would like to buy because of the size and cool factor, but the price is way too high. So I voted NO. $900-$1000 would be the pickup price for me. For $1,700 I can buy other cameras like the Nikon Z5 II. which I think would out perform it and full frame. It's full frame territory price.

Well here we go again. Let's see if FUJI has created another "wonder when I'll get my camera" mess. If anything, I will wait (forever ) to get one if they can be stocked like another camera. I just do not trust the FUJI supply and demand logic.

I ordered one, black with the lens. They are too expensive but I want something small. I’ll sell something else I’m not really using to soften the blow. Pissed at the tariffs, it really is effecting the photo industry as I have noticed many things are now back ordered that were usually easy to get in the USA. Does anyone know when then intend to ship? I’ve found in the last few years if you don’t order a Fuji product right away it takes forever to get.

I think the price point may put off a lot of people (Im having a hard time seeing value). When I look at the timeline of the X-E series, the X-E4 was released, March 2021 (4 years ago) at $849.95 USD.
Today we are looking at a 100% increase in price, and speaking for myself that is a tough pill to swallow for this latest X-E4 - at launch.
Not to depart too much off topic, but it makes me think about the future of the X-PRO(4), are we going to see a $3500-$4000 X-PRO body? Very unlikely, but now I wonder what that future looks like.
Back to the X-E5, we are getting IBIS and 40 MP. But is the AF significantly better than the X100VI, X-S20 / X-H2S? Is the built quality a big step from the last gen?
Perhaps what we have here is the X100VI but with interchangeable lenses (which makes it more expenesive than the X100VI once you start adding lenses). For now, I still love the output of my old X-E2 which now sits on the shelf quitely.
Let's see what the fulfillment side looks like.

The spec is not so important for most of the ppl who are buying Fuji nowadays, and Fuji marketing is young generation.
They pay for the look/fashion , the vintage vibe , the film simulation etc.
If Nikon wants to get into the game, they have to produce camera like ZF not Z5III , Z7III.

I voted no because I recently purchased a new X-T50. I do like the rangefinder ergonomics but also question Fuji’s commitment to providing products to the US, particularly with the tariff situation.

I wil buy one, but I’m in Europe. Tax-free the camera would be a little over 1200 EUR here. With tax, it’s 1549. Still expensive, but not as crazy as in the US before sales taxes. Don’t blame Fuji, blame you know who.
With the specs of this camera, I’m not sure there will be another x-pro anytime soon.

Not being in the US helps but this ticks a whole lot of boxes for me as a 'fun' camera, The Sony A7r 3/4 workhorse bodies get plenty hard use in the studio but they've progressed far from the fun of the original A7r. Yes the price is high but its an interchangeable lens x100 and I've never been a fan of the 35mm equivelant focal length. Most of all, if this follows the current trend of the X100, I won't lose money by trying it out, especially as the business gets VAT returned.

I've been waiting on the xe5 as an edc. but this isn't it. Not at that price. I'd rather spend a little more and get an om3. I havent watched any revirws on it yet so who knows maybe ill learn about some new features that im not aware of. But just reading the specs on paper and seeing the price.. its a no for me..

The price system is an excellent rationing mechanism. If Fuji is facing production constraints — as they have in the past with various models — then this price may simply reflect the market-clearing level, balancing their limited supply with (expected?) high demand.

I preordered two, one in silver and one in black, and will cancel one of them once I figure out what color I want. I figure it could take a while for orders to be fulfilled.
I have been looking to upgrade my XT4 and I think this is a good fit for street and travel photography, which I mostly do now. I am disappointed in the EVF, but we'll see what happens. I wish they had at least incorporated the EVF from the XPro3.
It seems that Fuji is banking on film simulations and product design as making up for the smaller sensor and the below average EVF. If the price isn't moving units, they'll lower it.
I think people who are looking at investing in the Fuji ecosystem don't see the price as too high. They see it as roughly in line with what other compact interchangeable lens rangefinders cost. They probably don't care that there's only one card slot and it's not weather sealed.
My theory is that entry level (XM) and flagship (XH) models will remain roughly at the same prices they are now, whereas mid-range models (XE, XS, XT) will go up in price over time. Especially for the US models.

The price is pretty unfortunate and difficult on those who use multiple ecosystems. As a long time user of the X100S/T/V the Fujis were more of the casual, always on me cameras and Sony was for more complicated work. I am excited for the new 23mm lens though. +200 bundled with the X-E5 isn't bad at all.

That's where I'm at. The X-T5 is fantastic, and it has the crucial 3-way tilt screen that I do not want to part with, while the X100VI is... an X100. If I were to go with the X-E5, it would be because I want to consolidate down to one camera body, but I like these so much that I can't see myself going that route (again)...
History repeats, I was going to sell my X100F & X-T3 for the X-E4, but the rear screen of the X-E4 nuked that idea... I hope this new model corrects the "feature", that, when you bring the rear screen out from the body, the image automatically flips upside down thinking you were using it to take a selfie, which made it useless for any sort of waist-level, flip out shooting That was the reason I sold that camera. All they had to do was just allow you to turn that off in a menu, that's it! (I wrote to Fuji a few times about it) I won't even begin to consider the X-E5 if it doesn't address this.
If you can't tell, I am still bitter about it to this day

List prices of the X-T50 and X-E5 are identical in the UK.
If the X-T50 was released today in the US it would likely be a lot more expensive.
I guess this is our indication of how Fuji is going to respond to American tariffs in the US market, then. Price increases for new models, but not for old stock.
I’m hoping to upgrade to an XPro4. Hopefully all this stupidity is sorted out by then.
