I guess this is our indication of how Fuji is going to respond to American tariffs in the US market, then. Price increases for new models, but not for old stock.
I’m hoping to upgrade to an XPro4. Hopefully all this stupidity is sorted out by then.
I'm shocked by the number of people who seem to think Fuji was going to eat the tariffs. Hopefully that situation is ending or has ended.

I think they also might be seeking a higher profit margin from the cameras, especially ones that are in the style of the X100. Even without tariffs, I still think the camera would have been north of $1300.
In Hong Kong, it's the same price as the 100VI; in Canada, I read it would C$2000, which is about USD $1450. In China, the release price is purportedly 10k yuan, which is around USD $1670.
If these prices are right, it's actually quite affordable here in the US for the median consumer because wages here are much higher than they are in HK, Canada and China.

Well the math seems to show a 30% tariff kicker on $1300. I would guess that Fuji was unwilling to accept less profit on this camera.

Maybe, but 1300 is just a guess. I have no information that Fuji just added 30% to 1300 to arrive at its MSRP. Perhaps some of the tariff is absorbed and some isn't. How much I don't know. Maybe none of it is. Pricing these items is complex.

Of course, a guess. It will be interesting to see if yesterday's supposed tariff deal with China really happens, then what Fuji does with pricing.

That’s not really a deal, other than that they will sell each other rare minerals on the one hand and critical tech on the other, while they continue to fight over everything else.

As of this moment there is a 55% tariff in place (subject to change at the flip of a TACO). Common sense tells us that this has to increase the price to the U.S. consumer. Fuji isn't going to eat that tariff nor is the reseller, like B&H. The U.S. customer pays the tariff and, in effect, we are the ones being taxed by this insane tariff scheme. So don't be angry with Fuji or the resellers and don't claim that this camera is a poor value just because of that. Be angry that this tax is being levied and it's ultimately levied on us, not China. It's completely understandable that you can't afford to pay the tariff or won't pay it as a matter of principle. It should also be pointed out that as of this date Fuji has not increased the prices on other products across the board, presumably because they already got into the pipeline before the tariffs hit them. Leica, on the other hand, raised its US prices across the board the moment tariffs were announced on the E.U., even though the products were already inside the U.S. I think Fuji deserves credit for that.

Yeah, the so-called tariff "deal" with China really isn't a new deal. They simply agreed to hang out at the status quo, which is a 55% tariff. There's not even anything signed and in writing, other than whatever TACO wakes up and decides on a given day. In the meantime, we're all getting screwed.
I like the idea of this camera a lot and placed a pre-order (albeit around noon EDT), so we'll wait the three months and see how I feel when they're closer to shipping.

I 'm with you. Happy with my XT3, and X100V. Will be looking for an
XT5 from an XE5 buyer. I like the new XE5, but can't see the value for
money at the current pricing.

The Australian price is slightly higher than the exchange rate between US$ and AU$ would suggest, and we don't have a tarrif (just 10% GST on retail sales). So I wonder if Fuji has applied a blanket increase across all markets to level the price.

If XE5 MSRP is priced at $1400, street price would be $1700+ anyway. A used 4 year old XE4 is still selling higher than it's MSRP today. Instead of giving money to scalpers, you give money to US Treasury.
Tariff is not all bad. Almost 100% of pick up trucks running in US streets are made in USA. Why is that?

I'm heading to Japan next month, and if I see one for sale, I might pick it up on the spot. Do I get tariffed on my way back? How would they even know I bought it there? What do I tell them if I get arrested?
