Sun N Fun Airshow in Lakeland, FL. I was so darned hot that my brain stopped working. Too many shots with bad settings such as prop planes shot with fast shutter speeds that stopped the prop's, which for me, makes them worthless. I feel like an idiot for being so careless.

Especially love that last crossing shot! I also like the post processing with the vignetting. Adds a lot of drama!
Also, been there with the wrong settings for prop planes. 😄 I have since programmed my AF-on and shutter button with unique settings.
I set my camera to shutter priority on the shutter (160th sec, ISO 50 as my base). Then AF-on I have programmed to override the shutter settings with (manual, 1/4000th, wide open, auto ISO, AF-on)
That way I can shoot without having to switch between the two. Not a setup for everyone, but works for me

Great idea.
I do something similar for BIF. AF is removed from the shutter button. I have two back-button focus buttons: AF-ON and AEL (moved AEL to the bottom of the rotary dial). The AF-ON is for stationary birds (low ISO, etc). When the birds take-off, I move to the AEL button which is set for 1/2500, Auto ISO, Zone or Wide Area, 20 or 30 fps, etc. Of course, Pre-Capture messes this up, a bit, since the shutter dial needs to be hard-set to multi-frame.
Before any future airshows, I'll probably set it up similar to what you do.
I know it's sacrilege to post anything other than BIF or wildlife on this forum, but it was my first day with this great lens. Despite the unfavorable conditions (sharp sunlight and air shimmer) I took a few landscape photos.

I plan to go to the park soon,where ducks are always hanging on the pools.They seem to be easy targets for the beginner bird shooter..Also my new A1 is waiting to be paired with this lens,so I do not have a choice.
BTW: I will also take the GM 300/2.8 to the Botanical Gardens,where adding up 1,4x or 2x TC or 10mm/16mm extension rings looks promising for floral shots.
Some practical findings on Sony GM 300/2.8's usage for flower shots.
It gives excellent and interesting results with 1,4x TC for flower close ups.Combination of focal length,f2.8 and 1,4x TC renders flowers differently compared to other methods/lenses/combination.To me it is unique somehow.The only thing to observ is the auto ISO,which tends to lift up.Sometimes too high.
.Also my new A1 is waiting to be paired with this lens,so I do not have a choice.
