One from this evening. I rented the 300GM + 2xTC this was shot with the bare 300, it's really sharp, fast to focus. I'm still on the fence about it for my personal needs. I just rolled in from Bosque del Apache, with mixed results. The 2x images are pretty nice, lots of details. With the 1.4xTC I can't tell much of a difference, no degradation to my old eyes. I'll shoot some more with it as I have it until Monday. The Bosque trip was sort of a bust as everything was really far away for the most part. I don't think having the 600GM would have made much of a difference as heat distortion was a big factor.
Overall, initial impressions from shooting with it all of two days, it's a killer lens, super light, fast focus. Still mixed feelings about the 2x will test/shoot some more.
I pulled over photograph a hawk which turned out not to be a hawk and these guys/gals were grazing. Since I have the 300GM for a limited time, why not snap a shot or two.
Photographed about an hour ago, I left the house a little late and the shade of the mountain started setting in but no complaints. The 300GM with the 2x is pretty impressive. The lens bare honestly requires no sharpening in post, it's that sharp.
The twins paid us a visit, the time of day wasn't great as it was noon but I couldn't resist taking some shots. I'm testing out the Sony 300GM at the moment, it's pretty amazing. These shots were taking at f/2.8 and I didn't need to sharpen them in post, it's super sharp.
