Extra work?? I bet they thrive on the new content. Every new change just drives more traffic

I like the looks of the camera in the photos, so it wouldn't disappoint me if that's what we get. And I'd be interested in the r version, if it materializes. My deep affection for the a6700 makes me think a little resolution monster FF would not be a bad thing. We'll see how it goes.

I am thinking the time's coming to look for a low-mileage, well-priced original a7c. I miss my Cambo Actus and it would be a great digital back for that camera.

Dear Sony,

Pls look at the table below.
Does a new 61MP ‘Compact’ camera deserve the lowest of EVF specs?

You are headed there, but do you know that if your concoction is done right, your 61MP ‘Compact’ could potentially be knocking on the doors of those (wanting to / already are) shooting red dot cameras?

A7c___EVF = 2.3mp 0.39" 0.59x, LCD = 0.9mp, 509g, 24MP
A72___EVF = 2.4mp 0.50" 0.71x, LCD = 1.2mp, 555g, 24MP
A73___EVF = 2.3mp 0.50" 0.78x, LCD = 0.9mp, 650g, 24MP
A74___EVF = 3.6mp 0.50" 0.78x, LCD = 1.0mp, 658g, 33MP
A9____EVF = 3.6mp 0.50” 0.78x, LCD = 1.4mp, 588g, 24MP
A7r3a_EVF = 3.6mp 0.50" 0.78x, LCD = 2.3mp, 657g, 42MP
A7r4a_EVF = 5.7mp 0.50" 0.78x, LCD = 2.3mp, 665g, 61MP
A7r5__EVF = 9.4mp 0.64” 0.90x, LCD = 2.1mp, 723g, 61MP
A1____EVF = 9.4mp 0.64" 0.90x, LCD = 1.4mp, 737g, 50MP

People that need a better viewfinder with a 61mp sensor already have two other options. The A7c(r) series just is not for you...look elsewhere.

I own the A7C and would upgrade to an A7RC if such a camera comes to pass. I’m ok with the 7C as it is now and would welcome an extra dial. The leaked images show that the grip is still the same as the 7C—or am I wrong?

Yah, I already own one of the two 61MP options above.
I am looking for a third.

I always thought the A7C with slightly better specs could be an attractive alternative to Leicas.

Well I have the A7RV but a 61mpx A7c for some shooting without the hump for like landscape and travel would be very useful. I need the A7RV for work but I can see a lot of hobbyist going in that direction and frankly I would not buy the 33mpx one myself. Now what's missing here is the direct comparison to the A7RV and the new A7c 61 mpx your going to lose some custom function buttons which I rely on fairly heavy as I still shoot manual focus a lot and that can eat up some custom functions and for me its like 2 buttons. One a switch for AF/MF Toggle and a focus magnifying for focusing. So depending how you shoot the you have to look at the functionality of the two bodies here. Plus you have to deal with the EVF which for some folks not a big deal but if you manual focus a lot its harder of the LCD to magnify and focus > I need a EVF/Viewfinder to accurately focus like that

I think it would need to be, like, an A1C or something of that nature. The A7C body in its current incarnation doesn't feel premium enough. The RX1 did, of course, so I guess we're back to designing an imaginary RX1RIII in our heads

Given how many CV lenses there are in E mount, it would be cool to see a body with more focus on innovative MF aids, and a solid feel to match. This would necessitate a better viewfinder of course...it would also mean that Sony would have to design a camera taking into account lenses that are not their own, something they'll never do, I'm guessing.

Before I get out of hand designing an imaginary MF-focused camera to compete with Leica...I wonder how much a better viewfinder with better optics costs? A few hundred?

I don't think any of the Sony cameras are attractive from an industrial design perspective, but the RX1 series and the silver trimmed A7C were probably the closet. I'm surprised Sony's cameras aren't better looking given their Electronic division's storied history when it comes to product design. Sometimes it feels like the negative traits of Sony travel through the divisions better than the positive ones.

I would have liked for them to experiment with the form of the Compact line a bit more. I haven't played with the A6700 though, so maybe I'm speaking out of turn. It looks very FX like.

I use the viewfinder exclusively when taking photos and really appreciate a good viewfinder. Other than the viewfinder, I think the rumored A7Cr is the camera I've always been waiting for and I'm not willing to wait two or three years for a possible update with a better VF - so Sony got me.

Sony goes after the mass markets leaving niches to the likes of Leica. The two really don’t compete and except for some enthusiastic members on boards like this, their audiences never cross paths.

I'm thinking the new A7C bodies would have approximately the same form of many rangefinders (of the past as well as the present) but they would have modern autofocus, MF aids, and IBIS--as well as the great Sony sensors. I do know that many Leica enthusiasts prefer rangefinder focusing, but I think the appeal of the Lecia also has to with its size, form, discretion, quietness, quickness for documentary and street shooting as well as the quality of manufacture. Many of us are put off by Leica's traditional rangefinder manual focusing and optical viewfinder.

I think Sony can actually match or exceed Leica on many of these dimensions, e.g., reliability (for example, the M11 and the Q3 seem to have some unresolved software troubles that may be in the hardware, require mechanical focus adjustment, and have some users dissatisfied with apparent sensor splicing). And Sony could add IBIS, superb autofocus, multiple MF aids, and better exposure technology. and choices.

We'll have to see how the new A7C body handles and what the viewfinder turns out to be. The original appeal of Sony mirrorless was for a small, rangefinder-like body with modern electronics. Lately Sony has been focused on making bodies that better-support large lenses and sports & BIF shooters. The result seems to some of us like a gradual return to the bulk of the DSLR cameras that Sony was supposed to be an alternative to. It's almost atavistic, like they are trying to make a better DSLR.

By introducing (according to reports) two rangefinder-like bodies at the same time, Sony may be renewing its original commitment to the small, modern body. I hope so. They still need to work on getting manual control ergonomics right--we'll have to see how the new A&C bodies feel to control. They could certainly learn from Fuji in this regard.

We still miss an ultrasharp sharp, modern, compact 28mm (somethind between 1.8 and 2.5) to mimic the Q3 style.

How much will drop prices on a7c? What do you think? And how fast after a7cII release?

Thinking the closest you'd get for a "budget Q3" at this point would be the rumored A7cR & the Sony 24mm 2.8 which has actually received good reviews. Not as fast and not 28mm, but you save a whole lot of $.

Maybe like the A6600 and A6400 changed. Might depend on initial A7Cii price. Demand seems strong so the closer the new one is to $2000 the less the A7c will drop. I think I saw "sale" $1500, so maybe it will stay there. The A6700 had several lower models, A7C doesn't.

I personally would not hesitate using the Sony 28 if one needs AF. I have many great images with the lens.

Ah forgot all about that lens. I had it for awhile, decided a 24/35 combo made more sense for me. It gets some hate here but I had good luck with it as well, although I used it mainly for casual purposes vs. critical landscape work.

Sony 6700 body only cost me 1400 . I think that was very fair

I’m guessing A7C 33mpx at 1800 and 61mpx 2900

That’s my guess
