Sony goes after the mass markets leaving niches to the likes of Leica. The two really don’t compete and except for some enthusiastic members on boards like this, their audiences never cross paths.
I think the same, Sony can just do a 1:1 Leica M clone and it will just fail, like if they did the X100 clone, people who wants Leica will eventually get a Leica, and the Tiktokers don't want to be seen with a mere clone, it's X100 or nothing

Ah forgot all about that lens. I had it for awhile, decided a 24/35 combo made more sense for me. It gets some hate here but I had good luck with it as well, although I used it mainly for casual purposes vs. critical landscape work.
I use the Sony 28 for street photos. Works great for that purpose.
The original A7C retailed at only $200 less than the A7III. How likely is it that the successor, which is based on the A7IV will come in at $700 less instead? I reckon it'll be $2,199 at the lowest. The A7CR will probably cross $3,000, which makes it a no go for me.

The A7C was 1700 on release it’s 1500 now . Not sure what a A7III has anything to do with it.
I'm not sure where I lost you. If the gap between the original two (A7C & A7III) was only $200, why would an A7C II which is presumably based on the A7IV retail at $1,800, $700 less than an A7IV? There's no precedent for that sort of price disparity between the model lines.
Maybe I misunderstood your "A7C 33mpix 1800" post.

I have had the FE28 a couple of times and if only it was sharp across the frame when stopped down I could sell my Leica Q2. I wait and hope for a decent 28mm lens for Sony but nothing seems to come which sort of surprises me seeing that it such a useful focal length and the same as the standard lens on most smart phones. Interestingly my camera Store (LCE in London) told me the other day that the Leica Q3 at over £5000 is the the most ever pre ordered camera in the companies history across all their stores

Maybe some fashion wave among stock brokers.

Wouldn't that make the A7CR more expensive than the A7RV? Would that make sense?
Those prices would have me looking at the a6700 for $1400.
I'm not sure what the price is in Euros for A7RV, and how prices for european retailers are reported because (I assume?) VAT differs from country to country. If it costs within $500 of the A7RV, there is basically no reason to buy it.

European gear prices tend to be significantly higher than US prices. In a quick search on Amazon Germany, I can't find the A7RV for a comparison. But the a6700 sells, without VAT, for the equivalent of $1900. That is about 36% higher than the $1400 the camera sells for in the US. If we apply that percentage difference to the rumored A7CR price of $3960 (converting Euros to dollars), then a rough estimate of the US price for the A7CR might be $2534.
Of course, these are guesstimates and there are a lot of uncertainties and unknowns in these figures. But $2534 feels about right to me for this camera. I think that might put the A7CII at $1999 to $2199.

From SAR: A7cII for 2699 Euro and A7cR for 3599 Euro
That is obviously just a rumour, and I assume the Euro price factors in VAT. If true, it seems a big expensive.
Assuming 18% include VAT that would make US prices, based upon these numbers, roughly $2213 for the A7Cii and $2950 for the A7Cr plus state tax, actually very close to what I guessed. With a B&H Payboo account they pay the 8.75% CA sales tax. Will wait for full reviews but a R version is in my sights.
Posted on SAR . Makes no sense to me as too much money
Possible pricing leaked: A7cII for 2699 Euro and A7cR for 3599 Euro?
So that's about 2500 for the A7C 33 mpx which today release price was 1700. They're nuts that's a 800 price increase. I could see 400 not 800. Now if im reading this correctly
I would not buy this one anyway. If anything I would go the 61mpx unit and for me there might be a chance if my 6700 can take over the runway gigs I do. It's the same 26mpx crop that I need to get a 300mm and has the feature set of the anti -flicker/varable shutter and such. Rather shoot a 1400 camera in a crowd than my A7RV for damage and theft control. I need to seriously test all that out. Plus I would rather put 40k of images per year on a 6700 the my A7Rv. I shoot mechanical shutter on this gig
These prices are not real we all know they drop the pricing on release. Why I hate rumors . We can't shoot a rumor
The R version sounds like my dream camera. I loved the RX1ii, and this is as close as possible.
If the grip is the same as the 6700 and they slightly change the magnification on the EVF....
Dreams may come true.

IF all true I would love to see a true image of three models comparing the sizing of like the 6700/A7C and A7rv. That would be interesting and I bet fairly close too.
