I thought the R6II introduced it for Canon

I don't know about other canon cameras, but Canon R5 does not have auto subject selection. You need to select people, animals, and vehicles. To my knowledge only Nikon Z9 has full auto mode.

The 70200gm2 is a revelation indeed. At first i almost sent it back because the bokeh is quite a bit more structured than the GM1 and its a bit less organic. Sometimes it has less dimensionality (pop) but many times even more, at least in my experience.
Everything else, it is so much better that you are simply awe struck at the improvement in lens design and technology 😮

When I upgraded the GM 70-200II to be more compatible with the A7rV's new IBIS system when that firmware first came out, I had no idea/intention back then to ever buy the A7rV. Maybe Fate knew something I didn't at the time 😎
GM 70-200 ver II is a BEAUTIFUL 70-200. Every time I scroll through some of my event catalogs from late last year, the ver II portraits always catch my eye and I stop and pixel peep of course. For an event zoom, the GM 70-200 VII is gold!

BTW anyone looking to buy a A7RV than Allens in Levitown has them in stock. I ordered from them. I grew up down the road as they say and they are a wonderful shop. Contact Marlena and let them know Guy sent you along. Im getting nothing out of that except to help others. They are just really nice folks

My local Sony dealer in Las Vegas still has 6 in stock and I am so tempted. I sold my last A1 last year and downsized to the A7IV which I've actually been enjoying. I know there are some unfounded rumors about an updated A7IV version coming soon with some A7RV features, but they are just that, rumors. For what I shoot 33mp is good enough 99.999% of the time and the AF on the A7IV is really good. The A7RV AF intrigues me, that and the new flip screen are the main reasons I am looking at the A7RV to go along with my A7IV. It's more of a want than a need, but with them being still in stock at my local store it's just so tempting

For many people here (me included), it's almost always more a want than a need. Nothing wrong with that

You’re feeling like a lot of us. I really like my A7IV and this A7R5 mirrors it external pretty much but these added features look really great. I gave up my A1 for this. Crazy as it sounds but I can get by easily without it. I may burn up a A7IV quicker with mechanical shutter but I’m okay with that. I have a need and no one has given me a definitive answer to it just quessing. I don’t guess so I resigned my self to use mechanical shutter for my big gig. I still think I can use electronic shutter and I’ll answer that
Anyway go to that link above no tax. Have fun enjoy life
Yes! Looks like the 100-400GM fell of the cut-n-paste.
So is this it? Only these four lenses that are compatible with up to 8 Stop IBIS with the A7rV so far... of all the Sony lenses? I can't find any additional info about the other Sony lenses. Seems strange only those four lenses...

Flare/ghosting is another topic where the 70-200 II may not be an improvement. I find it can be not so good shooting against the sun.

I haven't noticed more structured Bokeh, will have to go back and look. However as you are named "Bokehddicted" in this forum my guess is you would probably notice bokeh characteristics much more than I tend to. I'll for sure, have a look.

Are there many more Sony lenses with OIS?
Also, Sony claims 8 stops with 50GM mounted...
I just skimmed over 3k+ images and havent found any other where this was a problem.

That brings up a point here. Most people complain about white balance and color science and it's been shown that C1 renders Sony RAW files "better" than Adobe. Now everyone is saying the A7RV AWB and skin tones are better, but we haven't seen results with the Adobe conversion yet. Could that have a negative impact on this new perceived better color rendition once Adobe releases their update?
