Anyone with both the A7rV and the A1, is the grip of the camera the same size as the A1 grip?
As Sony has developed the cameras the grip has gotten larger. When using a Cambo Actus with the Sony bodies with FF lenses with a helicoid focused at infinity and in the landscape orientation more and more restrictions have taken place for left shift. There is no issue with an A7r. I believe there may be some with an A7rII, though I have not tried mine. With my A7rIII there is some interference when using left shift with FF lenses focused at infinity. In the case of my A1 in landscape orientation with the Cambo Actus, the grip actually hits the rear standard which is where the camera mounts to the Actus. This prevents left shift in this orienation probably beyond about 4mm. It is not an issue in Portrait orientation or when using medium format lenses as they have a much longer flange distance. I believe that there is also a problem when using some of my Apo Enlarger lenses like my Rodenstock 50mm f2.8 Apo-Rodagon N for left shift when focusing on infinity, particularly with my A1 in landscape orientation.

Tell me about it..... Either C1 or EXIF hacks (or the route you mention.) Given I want DeepPRIME I have to go the hack the EXIF route.
Glass half-full. Imagine Edge Viewer is able to denote/display the little green square Eye AF on the image files. Interesting to see how many of my A7rV AI Eye AF shots really hit the eye or not with the GM 24-70 v.II 😉

When scrutinizing with my eyea-- So very similar. Is there a difference ?
These specs read:
"Sony A7R V has external dimensions of 131 x 97 x 82 mm (5.25 x 3.87 x 3.25″ and weighs 723 g (1.59 lb / 25.50 oz) (including batteries). Sony A1 has external dimensions of 129 x 97 x 81 mm (5.08 x 3.82 x 3.19″ and weighs 737 g (1.62 lb / 26.00 oz) (including batteries)."

While the grip is about the same depth the actual A7RV is a thicker body than the Alpha 1. As others have said you don’t feel the difference much but it is there. Want to also note though the new rear LCD does not account for the thicker body of the A7RV.

Are there many more Sony lenses with OIS?
Also, Sony claims 8 stops with 50GM mounted...
Where did you see the 8-stop Sony claim with the 50GM (which is not an OSS lens)? This is part of my question. Is the up to 8 stop IBIS applied to all Sony lenses via in-camera IBIS? Or only when the lens also has OSS (Optical Steady Shot) and works in tandem with the camera's IBIS.

I see another reference to the 8 stops IBIS and non-OSS GM 50 F1,2 in this video, but no additional details about other Sony lenses so at this point ( unless I missed something), I have to think almost any Sony lens is capable of up to 8 stops IBIS with A7rV. And as we saw earlier, some of the Sony lenses with OSS apparently had to be updated via firmware to be fully compatible.
Need to go back in and redo a couple settings on my A7IV. I want to try and make both cams as similar as I can. A7RV comes tomorrow
For those interested, you can also download his custom settings and load to your A7rV as well for a try-out of both the process and his settings. For me, his settings are too different that what I normally set up, but I did want to try the process with the new camera which I did, but quickly reverted back to my own saved settings.
See the last section: "Downloading My Setting File For Your a7R V" ( requires an email)

I wonder if I setup my A7IV for instance today , since its raining than save on card and use in my A7rV. Can we go back and forth even on different cams. Sure I won't get all or maybe have to set up extra but certainly would be handy
