Got lucky and found an A7R5 screen protector online this morning......got it ordered quick!
Are they that scarce? I was at my local store this weekend (B&C camera in Las Vegas) and they had some Sony and Promaster ones, but they didn't have the body yet until Tuesday lol

I am one of those who replaced A1 with this camera. Most features of A1 were wasted on me but still of course I had huge hesitations doing that. However, after spending two days with A7RV all my hesitations are gone, for now at least
Two things impressed me the most till now: First, since this is an R series camera after all, I was just hoping a "good enough for me" AF tracking but what I saw is an outstanding AF tracking, way way beyond my expectations. I tested it on fast moving cars on a main road and the camera was able to track the cars easily up until they disappear from the frame. I also tried it at a skating ring, AF quickly stuck on the skaters and tracked them again very easily.
Second, better IBIS I think makes a big difference. I tried taking pictures outside at night around our house, very low light. With a focal length of 56mm and shutter speed 1/5, picture is tack sharp! I tried a few more at different focal lengths all at very low shutter speeds, none of the pictures are blurry at all.
There are two more features I haven't tried yet but I think I'll use a lot, focus bracketing and face registration. I take a lot of family pictures, I find it a bit annoying when in group photos the camera doesn't focus on the subject that you wanted it to focus, this problem will now be solved hopefully.
And lastly, two things that I didn't like much but not dealbreakers. First, battery seems to be draining faster than A1. I may be wrong but that's just how I felt. Second, I really loved the new features and higher resolution of the screen but the problem is it just doesn't seem belong to the camera in my opinion It is a bit thicker than what it's supposed to be so it extends a little bit from the surface of the camera body. But it's fine not a big deal. Also, it had been a long time since I haven't used mechanical shutter so that felt a bit different I must add
All in all I've been really enjoying A7RV. I thought about not being too greedy and getting an A7IV instead, I even bought one to try, loved it too actually but A7RV I think is at another level. So I resold A7IV and kept A7RV. I wish I could have kept them both. Of course there must be many more things to explore while using it, I just hope there won't be any bad surprises

I'm with you. The AF and IBIS improvements were the main factors in the purchase for me. Just got mine this afternoon and have been sitting in my hotel setting everything up. Walked around alittle and I have no problem getting sharp images at 1/5 of second with my Tamron 20-40 attached. This lens pairs perfectly with this camera. AF is even better than I was hoping for. Still alot to sift through but Sony could have a problem. This might be my last body. Any video guys out there. What is the best setup for this camera for just straight out of camera footage (for family stuff). I don't want to have to do any grading.

mtoroglu/nhsonyshooter,
My experience with it so far is a lot like yours....and I switched from an A1 also, after a lot of debating. I haven't had the chance to really put the AF to the test, but what I've seen so far is impressive. The improved IBIS is what sold me on this model, and I can tell a huge difference. The focus bracketing will hopefully be tested this weekend.
I mentioned this earlier, but the battery does drain much faster than the A1....was kinda disappointed there.....I have 5 batteries so it's not a deal-breaker, but just something to get used to. Also, like you, I've gotten so used to electronic shutter that it feels weird to shoot mechanical again. Right now I have a button assigned to toggle between shutter types, so I'll play around with that.

SENDING big hugs this is what suspected all along why my interest. I bought the A1 for electronic shutter what I did not know until way back in this thread on APSC mode its actually faster with regards to rolling shutter. My BIG job is 40k in APSC mode with LED and variable shutter kills the banding
Thanks this is the DATA we need not some moron troll telling us we are idiots.

I ordered one off of eBay but may not get till late December. I will be in LA by then. Ill find one
What is the Sony Model number for it, anyone know I know it was posted. BTW I love mechnical shutter on this A7IV a lot if it's the same or quieter I wold love it. What I really may do next month is use the A7IV its a 2300 dollar camera I burn it up I made 5 times that in a week on sales. Im not concerned about that stuff
And BTW it's really a rare day when I reach out for help and make decisions and I appreciate the real Sony folks and your generosity . Ive picked up the data I need in this thread alone. Thanks Folks. Keep that good data going we are all learning here

Any estimates when adobe will have a profile for this camera? Pretty annoying that I can't edit my photos in Lightroom on my new camera (unless there's a work around?)

The profile already exists in the Lightroom beta, so the answer is "whenever Adobe pushes it to production".

The 5 has a locking Mode button on top (works the same as the one on the EV Comp wheel)
I did not know that Sony had finally made mode button lockable. This is huge for me. Locked mode dial just made it impossible for me to change the mode while shooting. This had been an issue for me since R3.
Mine is on its way, but I am looking forward to it even more.
