I’m number 3 & 4 on a smaller local list but jumped today when Amazon opened preorders again. Anyone have experience with Amazon Z9 orders?

As guidance to others, I pre-ordered my Z9 and FTZII on November 7th, from a well known Nikon Professional Dealer, and based on e-mails from NPS this past Tuesday, and dialogue with my dealer about timing and shipping, I expect to receive my unit the end of next week (1/21/2022). I received the FTZII last week.

My Z9 arrived today, ordered November 7th, arrived January 19th, well worth the wait.

While the new EN-EL18D battery fully charged, I gave the camera a good shakedown run with a fully charged EN-EL18C.

4,400+ images later, it's showing 55%. Just need to get a 2nd battery door cover for the 18C, waiting on them to become available...

I am not a NPS member and ordered directly from Nikon and got the big hit on the CC at 4:53 (6:53 eastern) this morning. I assume that they must have gotten a fair size shipment in.

For those that are tracking the exact time they placed their orders as compared to the time of the release announcement, I ordered mine 4 hours after the announcement as best I can determine. I don't know what their methodology is for fulfilling orders to Dealers versus direct purchasers, but in the past when I have ordered out of stock items directly from them by the time I receive mine I notice Dealers are then showing in stock.

I am not saying that everyone is going to get one next week, just that I imagine that more people will be getting notice that they will be getting one soon. Don't know if that means people who ordered on the first day of release or further out, just that they are trying to get them out in your hands.

I also put in an order from Amazon before they took down the post. Same message that they will email when it ships. No body from Amazon called to verify my order that I placed yesterday. Still waiting on B&H order too...

Thank you! I have my order from Nikon but it still is showing as processing. If I do get it by the 26th from Best Buy then I will cancel the order with Nikon. I actually preferred to get it from Best Buy since I am an elite member but it always showed as sold out. Thank you again.

Just my luck. I received an email this morning that my order will be shipped. I called to cancel since I ordered from Best Buy but they said it's already in the shipping process and can't be cancelled. Now the dilemma about what to do...

Sorry, but I don’t feel sorry for you….😊;

Here we’re still waiting for the first Z9 to arrive - mine will not arrive before the end of february, if not later 😕.

Hell, buy two of them, and sell one of them later…

I ordered one from Best Buy on January 17 when someone on here posted that they were available online. Just got notification it was ready to pick up today. Just left the store with mine! Now to cancel my order with Adorama. So crazy that I could order on launch day from Adorama and see no end in sight and I can order from Best Buy and receive it three days later. Oh well, can’t wait to use it!

Yeah, it's primarily because Best Buy doesn't do NPS orders. So when they get extra that hasn't been claimed in the initial pre-order, they just list it on the site and it's first come first serve.

Sadly, it appears BBY has a time limit on pre-orders so people who haven't had their orders fulfilled yet are finding that their orders are being auto-cancelled by Best Buy due to the inventory not being replenished fast enough to fulfill their orders before the time limit kicks in.

I actually preferred to order from Best Buy since I am an elite member. They give you a points for purchases that you can convert to gift cards.

I doubt you'll get a lot of sympathy about this "problem".

I just got a notification from Nikon that my Z 9 is shipping soon!

I ordered direct from Nikon day of launch but pretty late, like 3 PM central. I am NOT an NPS member.

I was expecting at this point to get it this summer but looks like there is hope for us normal people's.

This is nice for smaller things but I’ve stopped applying reward certificates to big purchases, since most credit card companies require you to charge the entire amount to double the warranty. Just FYI.

Any non-NPS orders after 8:03am shipped yet from B&H?
I am a non-NPS order confirmed at 8:06am, still waiting...

I put in my order at 8:02 and just got it yesterday. I would think you'd be soon.

Yep, really bad service and yet, top dollar is paid. I have my suspicions as to why this is but being somewhat political in nature, I am not going to post it here.

What I see, and what irks me about FedEx, is the way that they will often handle late packages. I have had so many packages sitting in town at the FedEx Ground distribution center, and they don't attempt a delivery on the expected day, but rather they mark it as "Undeliverable due to weather."

And of course, it's sitting local and it's a beautiful sunny day. I suspect this is done on purpose, and having called customer support, confirmed that internally, they always have a different and known reason for the package being delayed. But they mark the public tracking as due to weather as I am sure they have SLAs with many customers (like B&H) that do a lot of shipping, but that weather delays don't count against the SLA. This makes sense, as weather is not their fault. But if the shipper isn't carefully monitoring both the status of packages and the weather where the package is sitting, they would never know what FedEx is doing.

Some people have good luck with FedEx, but the thing is, there will naturally be much more variation in the quality of FedEx Ground service than there will be for UPS Ground, for example, because they contract out the work. Only FedEx Express is actually delivered by FedEx. I've literally had FedEx customer support tell me that FedEx Ground just isn't their problem. Of course, FedEx can can delegate authority, but they can't delegate responsibility. If I pay you for a service, it's your responsibility to deliver it.

It mostly annoys me that B&H calls FedEx ground to my house "Free Express Shipping" they also sometimes call it "Free Standard Shipping" but since I am in the range that FedEx says they'll deliver to in 2 days, B&H isn't going to spend more for my "Express" shipping when I buy enough to qualify for the free express "upgrade."

But I am at the edge of that 2-day range, and FedEx only gets it here in that timeframe maybe 50% of the time. I am not paying for it, so I can only be so annoyed, of course. And if B&H called it "Standard" I honestly wouldn't care. It irks me that FedEx is lying, most likely to pull the wool over the eyes of B&H who I think truly believes that they're delivering me free 2-day shipping. They aren't, but that's what their SLA says and as far as they know, they are only missing SLA when the weather is bad, and they can't be asked to change the weather!

You can still use the credit card and buy the item. I am pretty sure he was saying he would get points. Not use them.

Over the last 20 years I've been buying from B&H, I have ALWAYS ordered the likes of camera bodies and lenses on a "Next Day" basis. Firstly the packages, be it FedX or UPS are all handled quite differently. Aside from a virtual guaranteed of receiving it the day after you order (instead of gambling on the whim of the carrier) The packages don't have to endure the usual banging around and processing which standard shipped boxes do. In fact, I have to say over the last 20 years virtually every package I'd ever received didn't have so much as a ding anywhere to be found let alone a gouge. Others nearly always have as they go through their brutal conveyor systems. B&H has typically split the cost with me when I have requested it be "Next Day". When I lived in a metropolitan (I now live in a rural area) I used to get my packages Next Day AM Delivery which guaranteed it by 10:30am, pretty darned nice. Now in a rural area I get my next day packages around 2pm, not too shabby. But once again if you care about the handling of your sensitive expensive gear being sent to you, certainly consider the extra $ and be on the safe side for both handling AND delivery time frames.
