Well the retailers get some of the $5,500 per unit 😏 I do wonder how much Nikon actually sells each Z9 for to the retailers.

Just a comment from a recent live cast RICCI was on (Nikon teacher UK). He stated that Nikon is currently capable of producing 3,500 Z9's a month.

Ricci is always very careful about not leaking any internal Nikon information and this is obviously confidential.

Could you please share the link and the time? I would like to hear what exactly he said.

Thank you.

Bernard

He said it was public knowledge that Nikon makes 3,500 units per month. It was Matt Irwin's YouTube video with Matt, Ricci, and Seth.

Here is where they talked about it.

?t=761

From my understanding Nikon did a press release in Japanese that stated 3,500 units per month of production. Ricci states the "official" number is 3,500 units per month.

It was the Matt Irwin “Seth, Matt + RICCI” video/livestream on YouTube. (Not a Matt Granger as erroneously stated above).

If Canada follows US model, then in mid-January NPS will be done! And everything will be open stock! That is great news.

Last night at 9PM+ I received an email from NPS. It stated that all Z9 priority delivery requests submitted to NPS by 19 December, would be fulfilled between December 23 and mid-January. This is the same message NPS sent on December 20.

You are right: By mid-January, all commitments to NPS people will have been fulfilled.

And you are like a 6 year old child. Give it a break. There are bigger problems in the world then you not getting a freaking camera immediately. Your behavior is just pathetic. Grow up.

Nikon better be listening to this.

I respect how Nikon should fulfill NPS orders first due to the fact that they are professional and thus more influential about the Z9. I do not think I need to respect what Nikon is doing for the whole thing since I knew there was a so called NPS thing from the day I was ordering 500mm PF lens. Regardless supply chain issue, both from customer base and financial contribution's point of view, those that are from NPS member to Nikon is not comparable to us who are not. I think people agree that these NPS not necessarily a loyal customer to Nikon. They more or less have Sony or canon at the same time. Nikon must know most Nikon fans are not doing photography for living. Apparently Nikon USA is handling these NPS members directly. But why not their shipping and ordering directly by Nikon USA? By delivering these Z9 to a store while only NPS members getting first makes their fans sick!

I can only assume this is a joke as it makes zero sense. You are OK with NPS members getting priority, but you don’t like Nikon using its dealer network to do the distribution to NPS? And the reason for this is it makes you sick to see those cameras being sent to your dealer but you can’t have them. Yep, had to be a joke. Or a crazy person. I will assume a joke.

Why do I like it? Should I applause?
You read English as I said. Nikon handles these members directly, why not their orders and delivery? If you don't have a reason but you just agree Nikon by doing so, you are a real joke.

Please remember we’re talking about cameras. I don’t think there’s any cause for vitriol or ad hominem for such an inconsequential topic.

My post P30 #12 is exactly about the topic. And this is about how Nikon can handle it better. At lease in the future.

Nikon must support both its NPS members who pay for benefits that include priority on new products,it must also support its dealer network and not directly compete with them.

What Nikon is doing makes perfect sense in this context.

Not exactly true. As said NPS members are minimal compared to all others that are not but placed order for the Z9. Financial wise, this doesn't really affect networks profits from their new product when all orders are fulfilled. Distributors' good relationship with NIKON is through good profit as a whole carrying NIKON products not necessary through NPS members policy. Further more, NIKON USA takes all orders as well, who says that conflicting with distribution network?

This kind of "short cut" from NPS member need to be fixed in the way that NIKON USA handle it themselves in the future.

I assure you that you will survive. In the future, you will have a Z9 and all will be right in the world. Yes, it would be fantastic to have it right now, today, in your hands, and it can get under your skin that others have it before you - but outside of that, everything is going to be okay.

I am sure the camera you have right now will work just as good as it did before the Z9 became a thing for as long as it takes for you to get a Z9 and once you do get one, you'll quickly move past how frustrating it was that you didn't get one first.

Debating the semantics of why any organization does what it does is pointless and accomplishes little - especially on a forum that has absolutely no control over the actual logistics of manufacturing and distributing a camera on a global scale. If it frustrates you that much, provide the feedback to Nikon and hope they will do better next time around.

Stressing over it accomplishes nothing and as I said, in the future, you'll have one and this will be in the rearview mirror and just as inconsequential as it is today.

Thanks for your reply. I agree most of what you say that time will let me forget about this. But a forum is a forum. This is a place to exchange thoughts. No, a single feedback is useless most of the time. Company reads feedback on the internet, that's what they really care about.

Please explain to me why it matters if Nikon ships NPS cameras directly to NPS members or if it ships NPS cameras to dealers to sell to NPS members. How can one distribution approach be better for you than the other? In your preferred approach, Nikon would first send all/most cameras directly to NPS members and dealers would receive few/no cameras until the NPS cameras are fulfilled. How is this better for you than the current system? Please, do explain.
