I email my camera store, he only got 5 camera on his first order to nps member. He told me another shipment should be coming in mid January but he doesn't think he will get many. They'll be for nps only again! 😞

If Canada follows US model, then in mid-January NPS will be done! And everything will be open stock! That is great news.
I have a friend who is an engineer for Toyota, and also is a photographer. He said it was improperly interpreted. It is January 10th that their news will be arriving We don't know what it actually will be but that is the date so a LOT sooner than October.

I hope your friend is right. The info (Oct 2022 date) is posted on 2 Japanese store websites though.
But that could be placeholders because they're not sure when they will receive enough to fulfill any new orders?

Has anyone ordered directly from Nikon? I ordered soon after launch and I know I will probably wait a long time like everyone else but I haven't seen many posts talking about ordering directly through Nikon. Most people seemed to have ordered from B&H or smaller local camera stores.

I didn't get the promised call from a CS rep at B&H to let me know if they still were expecting more bodies in Thursday as last Thursday got kicked down the road. She said NO ETA once again with NO further information regarding both their having ANY inventory arrive as well as not a clue if my order would qualify for the next shipment. She said the ONLY way to find that out is when they actually get merchandise in the warehouse to then assess if my order would be fulfilled. It's a very sad way to do business but not their fault, it's Nikon's fault for utter silence.

And…this is what many of us told you many times.
It is nobody’s fault. It is the way it is. Nikon never started any of the rumors you clung to. So far Nikon has met every one of its delivery deadlines.

So, having no significant clue when a person is going to get a product, they ordered is reasonable? I suppose that is the "new normal" these days, but glad I can still remember a time when if a person wanted a product and paid for it, they at the very least would KNOW when to expect it. The term "up in the air" would just about perfectly describe the expectations of the product delivery at this point in time. Having spoken to Nikon USA's customer service this morning they are echoing much the same "we have NO idea if and when shipments will resume". That's from Nikon directly. So, if you have a better source let me know.

I ordered direct from Nikon about one hour after launch. It shipped on Monday 27-Dec-2021 with "2 day shipping" via UPS and arrived on Tuesday 28-Dec-2021.

That is exactly right…nobody knows. But you keep on looking for an answer. You keep calling around. But…nobody knows! We are in a global pandemic. Production is limited while demand for products is way up due to pent up demand and fiscal stimulus. These are unprecedented times. But you still keep looking for an answer.
Let me ask you…how many times have you called B&H, Nikon, or other stores? In total, how many phone calls? And let me ask you another question, did any of those phone calls provide you with an answer? And let me ask you a third question, are you going to continue to call these places?

Hi, congrats! Was your order an NPS priority delivery?

I'm sure that Nikon doesn't have the exact timing of the quantities and when shipments will be able to be made. This was a lot easier prior to the present COVID situation that has totally disrupted the consistent supply of raw materials, integrated circuits, shipping, labor, etc. Nikon can determine availability of a product based on their current knowledge of supply of parts and labor needed, but one little change affects the product availability and "resets the clock". Every supplier is also basing the availability of their needed parts based on what they know, and that is probably affected daily. Most suppliers are working towards schedules that are risk based and those risks are probably unknown to their customers until they become an issue. In addition, the Z9 is one of the many products that Nikon is working hard to get produced. The trickle down of information, that is changing daily, will not make it to the level of personnel that you are able to reach via a phone call, as it would probably already have changed and would be deemed as misinformation by the customer.

My refrigerator died. It took 3 months to get a replacement. And no one knew for sure when it was coming. We ordered a crib for our new granddaughter in August. For weeks we knew nothing, then it was on a truck somewhere for a few more weeks. Knew it was here when it was delivered to the local store. Our one car lease was up in October. I extended it for six months, and now am just going to buy it, because there are no cars available to replace it. (And given the price of used cars, the lease buyout is a good deal). Flights are canceled, because staff are out sick. Took over an hour to get bags off a plane I was on, because they were short staffed due to call offs. The problems are everywhere, every industry. Nikon is not just trying to screw you. Badgering them will not speed things up. (Everyone getting the vaccine and boosters might help eventually, but I won't go there.)

Thank you. Yes it was.
Thanks for your response. I'll just wait patiently and hope that more inventory will come. The funny thing is that I'm like a lot of other people that have the equipment requirements to qualify for NPS but I don't derive any income from photography.

I was at my local store - Pauls Camera in Torrance - dropping some film off. I noticed they had a demo z9 on the counter. I played w it a little. It’s v nice, feels much better in hand than my z7. Anyway they said if I didnt preorder then March is when they expect them.

Just a comment from a recent live cast RICCI was on (Nikon teacher UK). He stated that Nikon is currently capable of producing 3,500 Z9's a month.
That's 42,000 per year, or $231,000,000 in revenue for Nikon. Happy to see it, and hopefully that means not too long of a wait for cameras for all of you who are on the dreaded "list."
