I agree with you and am glad the z9 is “normal” size. I am use to using a gripped 850 and 500. I did just sell my grilled 850 to help fund my z9. I’m hoping I don’t regret that. It did sell way faster than I had anticipated. I didn’t even have to list it. Lol.

Yesterday I was doing basic tests of the new 100-400 and 24-120 that arrived, and since I have no Z9 yet and no other Z camera (went back to the D850 this year) I got a refurb Z7 temporarily to test the lenses and make sure they were decent copies. So far it looks like both lenses are sharp into all four corners at f/8 when viewed at 100% which is good enough for my use (I’ve received lenses from Nikon and others that showed decentering even at f/11 so I have learned to test right away).
But what really struck me is how tiny the Z7 felt after shooting 6 weeks this autumn with my gripped D850 - it feels like a toy and not something I want as my main camera body (not a ding against Nikon - the two Sony A7x mirrorless models I owned in the past were even more toy-like and insubstantial to me). I’m so glad the Z9 is not the same small form factor and look forward to getting it in hand. It will need to be a home run ergonomically to get me to switch from my D850 + MB-D18. I expect it will be. If not, look for a Z9 on the B&S board next month :-) ...Show more →

And just came home with my Z9, a day earlier than expected. Battery is charging but not fast enough Super service from my Belgian dealer and worth the 40min drive to their bricks & mortar shop :-)
Start the z9 Image thread !!!!! You're the first !!!

Wow. That is awesome. Out of curiosity how long after they became live on the site did you order and are you NPS?
Belgium, and many other EU countries, does not work with NPS priority. I do not order these things online but simply call them and as an early adopter am I always pretty high on their list.
I already on the list for the coming 600mm even so there is not yet an official announcement.

Gotcha. I was more interested in the guy I quoted that ordered from Adorama as that is who my order is through…. Congrats on the z9. I am jealous. Lol

Hi;
I ordered from Adorama on 10/28 at 8:21 am EST and with NPS at 9:01am. Received an e-mail from NPS stating at my Z9 was scheduled to ship between 12/23 and 12/28. There were 2 CC: on my email who were Adorama staff so I e-mailed them and got a reply that camera was shipping tomorrow.

Congrats!!!. Now post pictures of fast moving creatures only.. Birds, Animals.. If you've ever used Sony A1, how does it compare?
Hold your horses :-) It is dark outside, the battery is just charged (spare one ordered, same as an FTZ2), did the initial settings (those I am familiar with) and now it is a matter exploring the AF options and testing, lots of testing. I am not one of the Northrup's that will make conclusions after a few days of shooting
I do have a Sony A9II and was with it last month in Africa paired with a 600m f/4 and behaved excellent. The Z9 will be paired with the 500mm f/ E FL.

Awesome!. I can wait. But would love to hear opinion from people like who used both Sony and Nikon. I know there are a few around including Jared (Fro) ,..... Have fun

Non NPS member here: B&H just charged my card. I placed my pre-order within the first 5 minutes of preorders going live. It’s looking like a lot of the doubters in this thread are about to eat a ton of crow.

Same here, non nps, ordered within 30 seconds of them going live, just charged.
I talked to someone who said the camera is slated to be picked up by Fedex on the 28th.
