Nikon is a piddly 7% of the mirrorless market share. Nearly-irrelevant-Fuji's share is nearly twice as big! I think some people on the Nikon forum grossly overstate the popularity of the Z mount in the market. If I could walk into a local store on "release day" and get 2 just-released Z lenses, I think that bodes well for the big box retailers.
You don’t have to be the biggest to be the best. But some folks think camera equipment is a popularity contest. For them I highly recommend they buy their imaging equipment from Sony. That way they can feel popular. So sad.

Best is subjective, and posts like this derisive drivel is pointless and embarrassing.

I believe that we are starting to see that a lot of the online talk about Nikon's difficulties to meet demand and about all brands being impacted by the chip shortage the same way was mostly FUD.
The number of Z9 in the hands of photographers by end of Jan will probably be many times higher than the number of Canon R3 having made it.
And I don't see why the trend would change moving forward?

This is funny, your lecturing me on derisive drivel….Calling accomplished photographers “monkeys”…Constantly talking down Nikon on the Nikon forum…it is just sad.

They already started shipping Z9s out in the US, the great Cliff Mautner posted about received his Z9 today in NJ, OK he is a Nikon ambassador and for sure a NPS member but I think the shipment is already out.

Nah, only buy Sony if you want 50mp, 30fps raw, otherwise you can just settle for something less.

No word yet on the Z9 but my 100-400 and FTZ II turned up at my dealer today in the UK and should be with me tomorrow. If it was the Z9 too then I'd have gone to collect it all myself! They don't expect another shipment from Nikon to get to them in the next 2 days but I'm hopeful that the Z9s might turn up next week. I suspect goods from Europe take a little longer due to the post-brexit border stuff.

Sounds like B & H has their stuff together. I wish I could say the same for Adorama. I called again this morning and they still have no clue when they are getting any in and how many they are getting or when my order will ship. So frustrating when it seems like every other camera company knows when they are getting units in and approximately how many. The customer service representative basically told me I just have to wait and see. They have not heard anything from Nikon as when they are getting anything in. Did not sound like they had any to even ship today which I find unbelievable. So frustrating.

The dealer I ordered from is also telling me they still have zero information, that Nikon has not given them a delivery date nor idea of quantity. Hard to believe that 1-2 days before cameras are supposed to arrive at dealers they’d still be clueless. They either have a weak relationship with their Nikon rep, or they choose not to give out the info to customers until cameras are actually in their store. B&H on the other hand is taking a very different approach in the last 2-3 days - I have never seen them so boldly and confidently give out shipping dates and allotment numbers like they have to many customers from multiple forums.

I don't think B&H knows either ... different customers were given different information by different B&H reps.
If you call too many times, they will probably tell you what you want to hear, so you don't cancel.
I only contacted them 3 times since Oct 28th and was told (as recently as 2 days ago), that they
think they'll get enough in the first and second lots and that I should just be patient and wait (not in those words).

It is in the nature of the human psyche to try to maintain a superior position. The so called alpha dogs that try to prove a level of knowledge but generally falls short when reality comes to fruition. They still will never admit they made an error. The just try to bark louder on the next big thing.
