Pink 1 Final (1 of 1) by Christopher Rankin, on Flickr

Got the 65mm in the mail yesterday but have yet to shoot with it. This is from a shoot with Bella on the 85 wide open at 1.4

Does anyone know of a good pouch that fits the fp with 45/2.8 nice and tightly? Not a camera bag, but a protective case that you could throw in a backpack/larger bag.

Interestingly external evf is coming from Sigma but not clear if it is for FP or a new camera:

The model number is alignment with LVF-11 and HU-11 which are specifically for fp, so I guess this too would likely be for fp. I would be surprised if they released a new camera soon, unless it was a minor update of fp.

I assume if it is for the original fp, it will need to be used with the HU-11 Hot Shoe Unit, which could make it rather cumbersome. I didn't really enjoy using my fp with the HU-11 attached while I tried a couple of times... On the other hand, fp could really benefit from an EVF unit of some kind.

Sigma will participate in (online only) CP+ 2021 from 2/25 so I think they might come up with some new announcements just in time for that trade show.

I'd be interested in an EVF for the FP. I don't mind using the hotshoe attachment. Also a firmware update of some kind that would improve the flash sync speed or add HSS.

According to Nokishita a new "Sigma fp L" (presumably) camera has been registered at a Korean certification body:
https://twitter.com/nokishita_c/status/1359405175476133891

So there might be some new variant of fp coming soon after all. Wondering if the EVF-11 is for the new or original fp and what the differences will be.

Really curious what the new body will offer. Was thinking of picking up a used Lumix S1 but will wait and see what Sigma's plans are.

I watched the Youtube assembly guide- this dude is SERIOUS. I was going to just watch the video to see how he did it, but after watching it, I feel compelled to support him. He clearly put a ton of work into designing and engineering this and the result is really professional-looking. I have an email in to him, I'm hoping he'll accept a PayPal transaction from the US, a little nervous about dropping ~$250 on an international item through an independent vendor.

This is really astonishing. Those of you who bought the kit, how's it going?

Most likely they'll announce it on 2/24 or 2/25 in time for CP+ trade show (online only this year but Sigma is participating).

Sigma has set up an Online New Products presentation for 2/24 9pm JST, just before CP+ starts on 25th:
https://www.sigma-global.com/en/news/2021/02/22/12750/

I suppose this is where they'll announce the new Sigma fp L and the new EVF accessory and the new 28-70/2.8 zoom.

Also Sigma fp Sensor Measurements (SIGMA fp Ver.2.03.0.V84) at PhotonsToPhotos, compared Sony A7C:
https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm#Sigma%20fp,Sony%20ILCE-7C

There is only 2 base ISO's , ISO 100 & 640. Rest is pushed ISO's...

Per Bill Claff:
"Sigma has implemented the ISO setting for this camera in a unique way.

I don't know why; but it complicates interpreting the results.

Essentially only the two base ISO settings (it's dual conversion gain) are what one would usually expect. All the others are partly handled later.

So, naturally, the Photographic Dynamic Range (PDR) has a strange shape as a result.

This carries over to the other curves as well.

Definitely dual conversion gain at ISO 640.

There's confusion on this issue but I'm confident that the widely quoted ISO 3200 figure is for video not still photography."

"What we see with this camera is far from typical.

The only two analog gain values that seem "correct" are those at ISO 100 and ISO 640."

"For example, shooting at ISO 200 is exactly the same as shooting at ISO 100 with -1 stop of exposure compensation. The dynamic range doesn't change, only middle gray get's shifted."

Curious to hear you guys' setup with regards to autofocus. AF-C seems to be borderline unusable even with the firmware update so do people just default to AF-S? Single or multi focus points?

You really can't use flash with the FP. The sync speed is like 1/30 and as far as I know there is no HSS. The FP has so much dynamic range and the 85.14 shot wide open is an amazing lens. I don't use continuous on the FP but the eye AF is actually pretty decent especially paired with the 85. I think all of Sigma's newer lenses were designed with the FP in mind and seem to work well with it. Some of the older lens designs from the DSLR era not so much. Fine by me since the newer lenses are sharper and smaller.

Yeah I’m surprised by how good the photo looks despite having no flash. I tried asking the Sigma FP Facebook group for their AF setups and they told me that if want to use AF I should just buy an iPhone. Great reminder why Facebook groups are the absolute worst.
