Thanks for the update. I prerordered and cancelled the evf thinking it will be available earlier. Even the combo FP L+evf is not in stock at B&H yet. I don't know when we'll get the evf in US...

Patience is required for just about everything these days. I ordered a couple of microphones six months ago that have still not arrived (due to delays in availability of parts, related to COVID), and waited more than a month for a lens to arrive from a location only about 12 hours' drive from my home. I'm used to waiting for things, though: I play wooden simple-system flutes, and my flute maker has a 12-year waiting list. I waited 10 years for my last flute. A few months' wait for a camera or EVF seems pretty trivial in comparison.

I got an e-mail from Map Camera that implied that they would ship my EVF-11 already tomorrow. I hope I interpreted it right... Wouldn't be able to use it before 6/3 but at least it would be nice to have it by that time. It's been showing up as back-ordered on their online store and other stores I've checked pretty much all the time since original launch timing. Sigma also announced at some point that the demand for the EVF-11 as well as for the fp L + EVF-11 combo were exceeding their expectations and they had trouble supplying as much as had been ordered. Since then the combo has been available but the stand-alone EVF-11 has still been hardly in stock anywhere. I figured it might be even harder to get when the word of the new firmware update for fp gets around as many original fp users might get interested in buying one so I ordered immediately as soon as I saw the notice from Sigma today.

I received my EVF-11 this morning so I'm now ready for the upcoming fp firmware update Looks like the viewfinder is not meant to be kept attached all the time and according to the user instructions it must be removed when charging the battery in-camera.

I've been playing with the new firmware and with EVF-11 a bit since yesterday, couldn't shoot outside so far though due to bad weather.
I'm enjoying EVF-11 and these new features especially:
- new Color Modes “Powder Blue” and “Duotone”
Liking the look of Powder Blue and it might become one of my regularly used color profiles. Also Duotone looks interesting with R1 setting for some types of shots.
- It adds the “Quick Focus Frame Shift” function whereby users are able to use the Rear Dial’s direction buttons to directly move the focus frame.
- It enables users to move the focus frame even when the image is enlarged during shooting in AF or MF.
These 2 additions are quite nice for controlling the focus area both in AF and MF shooting. "Quick Focus Frame Shift" was not enabled out-of-the-box and requires a change of setting before it gets enabled.
- It adds “Custom Buttons” functions whereby users are able to assign their desired functions such as “Exposure Compensation” and “Depth of Field Preview” to the AEL button, Rear Dial (direction button), Tone Control button, Color Mode button and MODE (Shooting Mode) button.
This is also pretty nice as some of those buttons would be rarely used with their standard functions and can become more useful when they can be customized.
I think I'll keep EVF-11 on my fp pretty much all the time since it takes some work to attach and to detach it and since the camera strap on the left side gets connected to EVF-11 now instead of the camera body. I will anyway want to use it pretty much always when shooting with the fp. The only problem is that in-camera USB-C charging doesn't work with EVF-11 attached. I bought a stand-alone charger BC-51 to be able to charge batteries outside of camera to tackle this.

In Japan EVF-11 is available for about 59K yen which is about $540 USD. U.S. price does seem too high at $699... I prefer to shoot with a viewfinder by far and I haven't really enjoyed using the LVF-11 anymore due to size and handling etc. so EVF-11 really motivated me to use my fp again.
