It was a lot smaller than that picture makes it look; nowhere near the size of a medium format camera. Here's a shot with a 'normal' slr for comparison.
Well at least no one could have complained that their fingers don't fit between the grip and the lens.

I took one for the team and watched the entire 41:24 video. Here’s the executive summary... rather than waste USD6,000 on a ZX1, wait for the USD5,000 ZX2.

It's nice and balanced review which points out the strengths and the weaknesses of the ZX1 - a rather different stance than what I've observed from discussions related to various forums. Though, Hugh has a bad habit of comparing different products with specs sheets, which I understand to a point, but it can get a bit tiring in the long run. Still I have to give it to him that he often makes a very nice reviews with genuine thoughts about the products.

I started reading the post and I thought you had gone crazy. The rest of the post made sense!

The AF module sounds awful, the RAW files don’t sound too competitive, the LR implementation and speed sounds so-so, and it sounds like it has a fair amount of quirks...
It’s has a great grip, LCD and the lens look quite well corrected. Tough sell, especially at 6k.

I don't know which is more likely to happen first between zx2 or rx1riii in the future. (my bet is Sony)
If Sony makes a new rx1 intergrating the ZX1 distagon lens, the new image sensor of a7siii, the electric shutter of a9, and NP-FZ100 battery, I think everyone here will be so happy.

Yeah I'm still not sure that there is a problem here that this camera is really solving. It really just puts extra steps in the way. I'd rather do this all on my phone. That said, the visual implementation of LR looks quite nice.

I think doing all this will make the rx1riii become bloated and defeat it's purpose of a compact full frame camera.

The image sensor of the a7siii would be the last sensor I want in an Rx1riii. I'm fine with the Sonnar as well. Just update the speed of everything internally in the Rx1rii, AF, new menus, new flip screen. I'm even fine with the battery. It's a simple fix Sony, let's go

This is such an unbelievably embarrassing camera. $6k can you can't shoot children on the move. WTF?

A complete and total failure.
I wasn't expecting this camera to follow moving children like an A9, but dpreview reported a backfocus even for a static portrait, that's indeed embarrassing at this price. The main problem is that I don't know who this camera is for. Are people who like to shoot and instantly share the same target as the one who are willing to spend thousands of $/€ on a fixed lens FF camera. I doubt it, but what do I know...

Out of date autofocus, lousy raw files, and I need a subscription to Adobe to use all the features. Wow, how not to sell a camera. At least it's cheap......

I am happy with the lens on my RX1s as well, at least the optical part of it. I have a few spares (lens units) now. That is necessary.
I'm happy with the sonnar lens but the rx1 series have an error known as the code 'E61'. Although it is very rare to encouter the lens error in rx1rm2, I think Sony need to change the lens design from the beginning.
Having said that, I hope Sony just could develop the new rx1. It's already been 5 years of the release of rx1rm2.

what's going wrong with your lenses that you need the spares? my original rx1 appears to have just died, though it doesn't seem to be lens related.

E61 plus non functioning manual focus got one. I replaced it. When I came across a couple at good prices, I bought them.
In one of the RX1, I had to replace the sensor to access the aperture settings in the lens. Part of the mother board is on the back of the sensor. The sensor itself is fully functional!
It is advantageous to have two bodies as I can figure which part (module) has gone wrong.

Just spent my morning coffee time reading people's comments on this new camera from various interweb sites. Zeiss did an excellent job stirring up the masses. Never have a seen such hate for a camera. Impressive vitriol that really must be the most for any camera. The only other example I can think of is when Sigma priced one of their SLR's really high. I forget what model that was.
Zeiss must be truly humiliated by how ostracized their prized showpiece has become. It is a total laughing stock of a camera and absolutely dead on arrival.
