We have find RX1 MTF, it's far etter than the majors putour (10/20/40 lpmm -vs- 10/30 lpmm). Karbe has said the SL lens MTF is unadulterated by fake 'corrections'. Maybe the Q2 as well? I'll look around.
The Q lens (one assumes that the Q2 has the same lens) has massive barrel distortion, corrected by in-camera software, as a diglloyd.com image shows...

Zeiss ZX1: New Ikon -- or Too Little, Too Late?
Such a sad review... the folks at Zeiss really missed a big opportunity. Delaying this for two years really made it dead on arrival.
There's a good number of ideas on display, but the negatives don't make it worth it. Let's hope a ZX2 isn't far away and addresses most of the issues; making it more simple and cheaper so it's actually competitive.

An excellent, well balanced "elephant in the room" review content with a surprising amount of ZX1 superlatives along with an equally long list of first-generation camera model need-to-fix list. Albeit this video producer could use some time management tips.
I really liked/enjoyed the image comparison between the Leica SL2 + the world's MTF champion, the Leica SL 35/2 Summicron compared to the ZX1 Zeiss 35/2 Distagon I think this is an important ZX1 video, important for Zeiss to hear hands-on feedback and important to anyone that might consider to purchase the first generation ZX1.

The whole ZX1 saga reminds me of another German-designed, ahead-of-its-time, super-amazing camera that no one wanted: the Rolleiflex SL2000F.
It was a 35mm film camera with interchangeable backs and other very advanced features. Total flop. But you could tell that the people who created it put their best efforts and a lot of love into making it. I really wanted one at the time.

Unlike the SL2000 that had a successor in SL3003, I sincerely hope there will be no ZX2.
Why not? I like the concept, but the price and some of the features need to be worked on. Remember the first digital cameras were nothing to write home about.

Thanks for sharing this one, never heard of or seen this camera before. Looks like they used the medium format body converted for 35 mm film. Biggest advantage here was that the film cartridge could be changed at any time with dark slide similar to the Hasselblad system. But probably weight and size didn't make it attractive enough for most consumers.

Folks, I have tried the Rollei SL2000. As cute as it looks on pics, it was a horrible camera. Once you press the shutter release, everything, the whole outfit, jiggles around before the shutter is tripped.
Just unbelievable!

Funny enough, the first comment on your link mentions that the SL2000F was designed by... Zeiss actually

Not to forget – the original design was done by the Zeiss Oberkochen engineers as a successor to the famous CONTAREX. As it was encouraging to deliver again the best and most versatile 35mm with changeable magazines. After the shutdown of the Zeiss Camera factory the design was given to Voigtlaender which heredited it to Rollei, as well as the questionable Rolleiflex SL35.

Hugh's rather deep look at the device indicates it's in beta stage, hard to believe it has been used by anyone serious. Rings that don't work as well as they look and are placed badly (shades of Loxia, same design group?), image review mag not available in EVF, mag on LCD goes fuzzy, inadvertent EC from touching the dopey screen, a wide open port, really? It looks like a camera designed from the outside inwards, full of natty adjuncts that work as badly while looking cute.
And this design trend that crucial controls are somehow now vestigial, so you put them on as an afterthought and hope people ignore them, or 'adapt'. FBW feel, and the EVF implementation. Straps that don't thread. What a stinker. Love his apology for the terminator hand grip: 'I'm used to no grip at all'. It's a camera designed to be looked at - what, you actually want to use it?
The images at DPR..yikes indeed. Flat as a tack, lifeless.

It was a lot smaller than that picture makes it look; nowhere near the size of a medium format camera. Here's a shot with a 'normal' slr for comparison.

Oh, okay, so only more bulky towards the back then. I looked it up online - this model currently goes for about $1K online.
