For me, it's UI speed. I don't care how fast it copies off the card (within reason) because I'll have multiple cards, but I desperately don't want to have to navigate a menu or even push a button to copy the images off the card.

I'm now sat wondering if I should take the plunge and buy the MkII N. I'm thinking probably not, since it'll be used for bike shots and the season finishes at the weekend and won't kick off 'till Feb/Mar time, just in time for PMA.
interesting....... I am mainly interested in an increase in dynamic range. A faster flash synch would do it for me too. Anyhow, no new body means I get some more value from my 1DS II. Like the upgrade from the previous model the current one will go when the successor appears. No complaints here.

I really hope I was wrong, but it does not make sense to annouse anything at the end of the show.
Why would canon have the primo spot on the floor? What's with the big stage that we were discussing the other day about some new event?
I've noticed that DPR's PK coverage doesn't mention the picture tank that was sort of announced yesterday, so I'm thinking Canon may still have something up their sleeve. OK, not thinking, hoping If not, I'll be ordering my 30D on Friday and getting ticked early next year when the 40D is announced
It's time to accept the shocking reality that Canon has left the gaping hole in its lineup unplugged. It's nothing short of astonishing, but, hey, when you're top dog, you can get away with this sort of thing. I'm actually glad to see competitive pressures building; it'll only mean better things for the consumer in the long run.
The only way I can interpret this development and have it make sense to me is that Canon is planning on making a bigger jump with the next generation of cameras and that it's simply taking more time to get everything right.
