Yeh a f/2.8 lens would be better, But I shoot using f/4 lenses with my SLR's so I can live with that.
I wonder when it will be released though, Sigma hasen't anounced a release date, And at the moment its only just a development anouncement.
Anyway when it is released I will be very intrested in picking one up as a P&S camera!!
I wonder if Canon will ever release a high end P&S camera with a APS-C sensor?

I thought Michael Reichmann's info on the new HP wide format pigment printers was interesting. These printers include automatic paper profileing using Xrite technology. You load a paper click to calibrate (10 min), then click to profile, enter a paper name, and profile (20 min). Pretty slick and only available on these 24"/44" printers. I am sure it will migrate to the 17" and smaller sizes.
He also has some info on Phase1's new products. They will be shipping Capture 1 V4 in Dec/Jan. The improvements sound like they address the speed issues many have noted. I look folward to using C1 V4.

I'm working for HP in "cold Russia" and currently use DJ130 for 80% of my "big prints". DJ130 calibration facility is much weeker than what is declared in Z-series. And hence DJ130 works impressively well for me, even with such tricky papers like Lomond Canvas and other FineArt-series.
And just last week I heard from my colleague that he had already recieved ad demo-Z2100 unit and installing it at his desk...
Darn! I'm really disappointed that there are no new bodies coming out. I was so ready to pick up one of those awful, terrible pieces of junk you poor, poor people have been stuck with, at a bargain basement price! You know, one of those antiquated 30Ds or 1DIIMns. That old, creatively limiting crap that you just can't wait to move away from
I'm with you Bethany....I was waiting on those 30D's to start pouring onto the B/S forum. Maybe they'll offer a rebate on it soon. Every little bit helps.

What? Where? Who's selling a Mk2N for bargain basement prices? At $3100-3200 used, they are selling at 90% of their new price. I guess it depends on what you call a "good" deal. I've bought 2 near new Mk2N's for $2000 and $2800, so good to you may not be good to others.
That said, if Canon introduces something new, many of us would leap for joy. If they don't, so be it. Noone is losing sleep over this....at least noone that I personally know.

This has to be one of the dullest Photokina launches in years - and that is not just on the Canon side!
Are we reaching saturation point!

Not exactly true. It's hard to believe, but I think Sigma has stolen the SLR show. Unless Canon was anticipating this and will drop the hammer tomorrow, but I doubt it.
Hmm, and I was getting 100% ready to click submit on my 30D order... Ugg, I've been patience since July!!!!!!! This money is starting to BURN baby BURN!!!! What should I do? Do you think I should wait till Friday to see if the 40D falls?

Sadly, the only way for you to accelerate the introduction of the 40D is to buy the 30D - the 40D release will naturally follow in a few days.

A couple more days won't kill you, so hang on. But, I seriously doubt that they are releasing anything like a 40D. I think they are going to be true to their word and blow the doors off of DR next year with a flurry of new cameras: 30D replacement, 1D/1Ds merger/replacement, and 5D replacement. Maybe even a 3 or 7 series, but I doubt it.
I'm actually looking forward to reviews on the Fuji S5. That D200 body is quite appealing. Although they appear to be using a similar sensor, I will be interested to see how well they've been able to improve IQ.

Oh, come on. We're talking about a couple of days here. I think you can handle the wait. You already have a 350D that does everything a 30D does anyway.

It's over ... there is not going to be any 40D at this show. Here is the Canon booth: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/photokina2006/Canon/. It is your money, but since you already own an XT (and the image quality matches a 30D) I would think it would be a poor purchase to upgrade to a 30D. PMA in Feb. will have the new cameras. They will probably leak out a week or two before the show.
I even think that there is a good possibility that Canon will release the 40D before PMA. In a competitive market, it doesn't pay to wait for a show. Just like they relased the XTi over a month early.
