We may just get a $8,000 22mp 1 series and a updated 350D. That would be a let down after the fun of speculation. Well there is still hope for Christmas Rebates and new releases this spring.
Well get ready for Photokina, Its not that long away! Already on DPR it has been anounced that they will be having a Live Photokina 2006 Show Report (Just like the previous years).
Yeah, that's the plan. I've nothing against that lens, I love it actually...just hoping for an ultimate-uber-ideal to match with my 85...I don't own a lot of stuff, hoping the stuff I buy makes me lust for it still after I own it...I sell a lot of things because that doesn't end up being the case...
Wow, so much noise and people are locking into some of these things like they're real. We have a few days or weeks before we know though.
In the spirit of this thread here's one I heard from the shoe shine guy yesterday. The new 370/XTi/whatever offers 10MP, 7FPS, and all the good stuff people talked about. Since there really isn't any place for the 30d to go, Canon just discontinues it. The 370/XXTi is the low end, the 5d becomes the midrange at $1500 (it's only a 30d w/FF anyway, and the a new 1D3 combo replaces the 1Ds/1D series at the $5k high end.
If you don't like this I'll go back and ask the shoeshine guy to make something else up.
Canon naming systems are not subject to rational analysis - just the same myh 'guess' would be that the 'legend' referes to the 50/1.2, as apparently they used to produce some old 50mm lens which gloried under that name, and the 'X' is for the 1 series replacement - I remember posting about the next 1 series camera, and those who might have used prototypes said it would not be called the 1DsIII - perhaps the '1Dx'? Canon could not give a toss about someone else having used their camera names - look at the 5D
