The electronic shutter is silent but otherwise the shutter is in my opinion pretty silent as well, certainly not very loud as you describe. FWIW, I shot 4 models yesterday with an X2Dii and all of them complained that they couldn't hear when I took a picture. The models were relatively close (5-10ft at most) and this within a room without music or any other form of background noise.
Not sure what else to tell you, other than that a small video with audio could potentially be useful, ideally also with the (shutter) sound of other cameras as a reference.
Also FWIW, of the cameras that I own I would describe the Leica M10-P and the Hasselblad X2D/X2Dii as very silent cameras, other cameras that I own (or owned) are much louder.

For the other folks, while I appreciate the attempt to help, truly I do, please read the thread. As I mentioned in my first post, the shutter button sound is LOUDER than the leaf shutter sound. I know what a leaf shutter is, and what it sounds like . This is a different sound coming from the shutter button itself as I described. When I depress the shutter button when the camera is off, it still makes the sound so clearly it's not the leaf shutter.
The X2D shutter also makes the tiniest click sound when off, and that sound is far quieter than the leaf shutter. It's so quiet that I never noticed it before your complaint, so you're either very sensitive to it, or your shutter mechanism is wonky.

Ahh, but yes they do, at least in my case. When I half press the orange shutter button for AF, it's silent. But when I full depress the button to capture an image, the mechanical mechanism makes a very loud click sound. Can't figure out how to attach a video, maybe I'll upload to YT.
Are you saying your X2D II shutter button is completely silent when you depress it fully?
Which lens, please? Then we can try to replicate it.

Yeah, it would be helpful to know the lens, the older (original) have a very distinct ‘kachunk” to them…I have the X2Dii and 55v, which are very quiet…

Which lens or lenses are you traveling with?
Mostly using 38V and 90V, but also have 25V and 55V as well as 135+1.7x. Usng the 25V in tight slot canyons and while at Red Canyon yesterday. So far have seldom used the 135, but when needed I had it.
Shot above taken with 38V. Like the manual clutch when setting up in total darkness. Have been using cyan focus peaking just to see what the lens DOF is.
I must say again that IBIS is incredible for me when in full daylight.
