Putting them side by side (both latest models and brand new), the Hasselblad X2D II 100C is $1,900 more expensive than the Fujifilm GFX 100S II. Overall, they are similar in size and weight, but the GFX100S II is 12 mm thicker than the X2D II 100C, while their width and height are roughly the same.
Yes, comparing new cameras, but the reality is that you can buy that 100mp sensor for the price of a mid-tier FF camera now.

Don't discount the large number of used GF lenses for way cheaper that are around too...much harder to find used Hassy glass.
Great point! I have seen some great bargains on used GF lenses on a fairly regular basis. Used Hassy lenses, not so much. I guess the flip side is that the Hassy lenses hold their value better - which has traditionally always been the case in the film days.

You sadly cannot buy THAT (ISO 50 HNCS) sensor in any other camera, no matter the attempt to rationalize it
It's the same sensor, but some how "modified" to offer the iso 50. I'm very curious if this is primarily achieved through software or if Hasselblad was able to specify a less dense filter pack, etc. over the same sensor part #. I recall Fuji claiming something similar not so long ago - and it sort of blew up in their face!

Which two lenses would you consider essential for this system...offering both good low-light performance and a versatile focal range?
Now? The 55V and the new 35-100 would take care of most things in native X mount.
I currently have the 28P, 38V, 45P, 55V, 75P and then adapt my 100CFI, 180CFI and Superachromat 350CFE V lenses.
I take delivery of the X2D2 on Thursday, will likely get the 35-100 at some point in the future.

I understand that’s mostly about HDR, which isn’t my thing. Resolution is.
HNCS has nothing to do with HDR outright. Again, it's not worth splitting hairs. This sensor, and the resulting images it can give you, is not available in any other camera.

I was thinking the 38V and the 75P (although the latter has no focus clutch if that is important).
The 25V (or the 28P) with the new zoom could be a versatile solution (albeit a heavier one) as well.

EDIT (got confused, it was already pre-VAT pricing):
If anyone is happening to visit China or Hong Kong, you can buy the X2D2 brand new for about $6,500 after tax free, so I guess any area that has tax free with good exchange rate. Think DJI offers global warranty for international models but not sure.

Considering that I’m a Leica M 21mm/35mm APO shooter…. First, the XCD lenses are a great balance between high quality and compact, with a wonderful clutch driven manual focus. If only one lens, the 38mm is small and quite versatile. I have 30x40 prints shot wide open that can be examined from a very close distance..very low distortion. Secondly, the 25mm is a wonderful fast low distortion wide, but it is larger and heavier. The 90mm is also larger, but the rendering reminds me of a next level autofocus 85mm Loxia, which I absolutely love.

I was quite tempted at first and almost bought one last night as it was in stock in Tokyo.
But I started to look at reviews and it seems that AF tracking is still not that great. One tester only got 93% of usable images on a slowly walking model in good light. Still much better than previous versions obviously. But my basis for comparison is the GFX-100II and Z8/Z9… though to compete with.
And then I remembered the lack of Capture One support, the price of the non weather sealed lenses (in particular the 20-35mm) and it cured my GAS for now.
If I were to invest in the system I would probably get the 20-35, 35-100 and 90mm first.

I must admit that I mostly used manual focus with the X2D. Clearly, the autofocus system has improved and I’m sure that firmware will be upgraded at some point, but the similar sized SL-3 doesn’t yet need to look over it’s top plate, but the X3D/SL-4 will be interesting. No getting around that the lenses are larger and heavier than comparable full frame lenses, so this also will be a downside to upgrading…especially when you prefer medium format zooms.

RE: Multi-Shot
Currently not 100% implemented.
However it would be very, very, very nice to have this implemented in camera without tethering.
I personally would like to see it implemented to capture the source frames and write a completed file in camera for these options:
- 100mp True RGB
- 400mp High Resolution
- 400mp High Resolution w/ True RGB
- 800mp High resolution
Unsure if it can do more than that, but the media is there. Unsure if the memory in camera is there and/or processing power to do so, but I suspect it can be done for at least 3 of those.
