B&H must be playing Hide & Seek with these it appears. Why any would have ever been in stock before all appropriate preorders where shipped is a game someone is playing. I know from talking directly with B&H that they did not have enough of the kit I ordered to even cover the preorders already on the books. We will see if the next shipments arrive any time soon.
Yeah I don't get it either ... maybe maybe maybe people started canceling pre-orders for the bodies because they got shipping confirmation for the kits? Fuji Rumors was saying they thought people with the kits would get them faster than no kits, based of the XE4 release. Maybe that influenced enough people to double order. I have no idea, just guessing...
But as of 11:52am I'm showing silver bodies available to add to the cart.
That dude complaining beating his hand towards the sky should jump on it! Or scalpers gonna scalp...... haha

Oh I did. It already shipped. And I left my pre-order open, because yolo!

Not sure I can bring myself to order something like this from Amazon. I try anywhere else before I order from them unless I know there is a likelihood I will have to return something. I wanted to try out half cases and thumb grips for my D-Lux 8. Ordered a few because I knew some would be crap. They do make returns easy.

I'm going to keep the X-E5 and sell the X-E3 for the resolution upgrade and the colours.
The skin tones are significantly improved.
Even though now my fuji system weighs basically the same as the Sony.
But when I take family photos with Sony I always have to do editing, trying to fix the colours, trying to reduce the details, smooth everything out. Those details aren't there with the Fuji. It's definitely a differrent style to the photos and it's nice to have both. Even though the Sony focusses a lot better than the lenses I use with Fuji, it's still like hard mode in the post processing, whereas fuji is great for casual life shots and basically all I have to do is crop and maybe the smallest colour adjustment. I just have a smaller pool to choose from due to the focus. I always have to shoot at faster shutter speeds, which is why the IBIS is great.
With the Fuji, there's barely any unwanted details, it's usually JUST enough and rarely ever too much - even though it's higher resolution than my a7cii. Everyone looks younger, nicer skin tones. And with the X-E5 vs the X-E3 there's a little more detail at distance and it's welcome. With Sony I've been trying a million filters to dull it.
It is heavy compared to the X-E3 but who cares. X-E3 has that nice softer grip too. Appreciate the IBIS and titling screen with the X-E5. Just need a quality half-case and thumbgrip (hopefully Gariz once they get their first few QA mishap batches out the way and Hoage for the grip), and to sell off some of the older stuff so it doesn't sting as much.
Family - Fuji easy mode, Sony hard mode.
Walkabouts - Sony with a 40 to 50mm + 28mm.
Travel and life journal/casual friend family hangouts - x100vi, wide angle in the pocket sometimes during the day if abroad or just attach it to the camera and wear it.

The kit in both black and silver is available at WalMart, of all places (actually, camera stores from various places in the country using WalMart as their online storefront).

I have shot a lot of portraits with the Sony, in studio and outdoors. The RAW files have great flexibility exposure-wise, but the colors just couldn't get to where I needed them to be. They would never match the actual skin tones of the models. I've since used Nikon and Fuji on many shoots. They both handle skin tones so much better. It is not a made up controversy. When people hear 'Fuji Colors' it's not just about the JPEG engine, but it's the RAW files that give you such a great starting point too. I've notice the same thing with video, it just works. The problem I have with Sony cameras compared to the other brands I shoot is that it seems like when you edit, it's to correct everything and with others you have a great starting point and the edit is for creativity. Pull up a RAW with Sony/Nikon and the difference is big. Fuji is able to pull it off with a smaller sensor and that's what makes their camera so appealing.

Yep, it's just really killing my fun with the system to be honest knowing I'm going to have a headache at the PC no matter what. I'm trying to get better with it, as few adjustments as possible but sometimes it's just like, god, what a mess.
Skin looks like it's been touched up for a gritty western cowboy movie remake. Where sometimes the cowboys are zombies who ate too many dorritos and rubbed it over their faces then got some fake bronzer just to seal in the metaliic yellow tang.
Even the one guy who things line up perfectly for because he actually goes fo that gritty western style is making a video about how to fix it, but also how it's not that bad:
I promise you I described the colours after staying up 3 hours last night trying to experiment with ways to fix the colours from yesterdays photos. That youtuber came to mind when I started talking about cowboys. And just look at those colours in the thumbnail. It's not always that bad but it's got a bit of it.
No wonder everyone is trying to handicap their lenses with 100 different mist filters that still don't really do anything.
Meanwhile, Fuji X-E5 just a bit too much blusher on, a little pale, plus maybe add some texture/sharpness when the lighting is soft.
I even tried the paid cobalt profile that people were saying they preferred it as a starting point but it was worse than standard Sony ST profile (standard) on my A7cii - which I think has some of the more modern Sony colour science behind it.
Why Canon doesn't have a single compact body I don't know.

Congrats! I'm gonna laugh if you get yours before mine.
I would also like to go on record for redacting my "you snooze you loose" comment as I have been proven wrong by unforeseen circumstances
For what it's worth, my local fedex pal just handed me my X-E5. I slapped a 27 2.8 on it and it's just fantastic. I have an x100f that I've used for a time, and this one feels substantially nicer. This is a huge step up from the X-E4, I don't think the two are even worth comparing.

I hear you… my last time shooting Sony was with a A7iii, but it didn’t last long as the skin tones are not at all to my taste.
You might want to give Color Fidelity a try… they make Lightroom color profiles for most cameras.
I admittedly haven’t used their Sony profiles, but I have used them on my Leica Q’s, Nikon Zf and Fuji X100vi, and using them has made getting a consistent look to my raw edits across all cameras a tonne easier.
They also have specific brand-matching profiles that you can buy as an add-on… I bought the Fuji digital pack and they are extremely good… I even use them over the standard LR camera-matching profiles with my X-100.

^As mentioned... got mine this afternoon.
EXTREMELY INITIAL IMPRESSIONS in hand: WOW. I'm impressed. It really is near GFX100RF like quality (I have both). The TILT screen is so solid too, unlike any Fuji I've ever used. I've handled a lot of quality cameras and this is in the top design and quality and feel in hand. Super surprised at how hefty/weighty it feels -- which is good. For me, it's an instant classic. And the 23mm design is beautiful (in silver).

Good to here. I was alittle let down on the x100vi feel/quality. I Cancelled my Best Buy order because they kept moving the delivery date. Just ordered from Amazon with delivery today. Been awhile since I have been this excited about a camera. Really the pairing of this with the f2 27mm voigtlander.

Let me know what you think when you get yours... I just put the 27mm Voigt on it too!
So I have both a black kit and a silver kit (as mentioned, I wanted black body with sliver lens)..... but crap ... the silver body looks crazy good, especially with light hitting the lines and shadows. I'm a design junkie so this is not making my initial plan easy. I am 100% all in on the sliver lens though.
