My understanding — perhaps flawed — was that perhaps Fujifilm could not quite drop in the existing miniMF IBIS mechanism since the sensor is closer to the rear of the lens on this fixed lens model. As we know, IBIS doesn’t necessarily work equally well across the frame — see, for example, the XE5 specs that give a different number of effective stops in the center and at the edge. That would be challenging with the angles that the light would travel to reach the sensor if this is correct.
My guess is that Fujifilm had not yet resolved all of the issues with putting IBIS in the RF. I suspect that eventually they will....Show more →
That might be the case. But Fujifilm managed to include IBIS in X100VI, and eventually that will be case in the future of RF series.
Personally I have not felt the lack of IBIS in X100V similar drawback as it is GFX100RF. The reason is probably in the greater potential lost in RF. What a great allround camera RF could be... On the positive side one can say that, using high ISO and accepting some blur, RF is anyway ahead in X100V in any condition despite the 2 stop difference in max aperture.

I think it is vritually inevitable that any future revision of the RF will include IBIS, given its ubiquitous presence in modern cameras and in the rest of Fujifilm’s line-up.

A Few Pictures while fishing yesterday on the Dechuetes River in OR-
Caddis Hatch is going on and Rainbow Trouts are rising all over this area- You can't tell it- 20MPH winds made getting my fly in the right spot challenging!!
This is the first camera I have ever used a crop mode, and I am actually finding it very useful. If even just for framing in post later, its helps me see what I want in the picture even if I only have a 28mm (equivlanat) lens.

Getting the itch more and more for this camera!
Also nothing is worse than fishing in the wind!

Perhaps this has been mentioned before, but B&H has a special until the 22nd where you can get 5% off and no tax on this camera when you use their Payboo card.

He used the GlimmerGlass1 from Tiffen with GFX100RF.
Thanks for pointing out the use of the filter. The algorithm pointed me to this video when it was released and I was struck by how much more I liked his images vs. the ones I had previously viewed. Now I understand why.

He is a X100VI user and has his Fuji presets. Per couple of his comments, he is editing and using his presets on all shots. The softer NZ winter light might have helped too... He said he used the camera for 2 weeks on loan from Fuji. 2 of his comments:
"Are the stills custom graded or with your presets?
Yes, they all are"
"When I say “SOOC,” I’m talking about the starting point. The GFX100RF’s in-camera aspect ratios, film simulations, and overall image quality already give the photos a strong, cinematic feel straight out of camera. Pair that with a flexible and cinematic Fuji recipe (like the one I used in my previous video), and it really becomes the ultimate SOOC camera for stills.
That said, I do give some of the shots a light touch with my presets—mostly just to keep a consistent look across my work. But I always try to start with a solid image that doesn’t rely on heavy editing. It’s not about faking it—it’s about enhancing what’s already there."

Yes, noted (that he's using presets). Many of the other reviewers were presumably using presets too, but there was a sterility to their images that has been overcome in this gentleman's work.
The default GFX100RF output is consistent with my experience with other Fuji GF lenses, in that they are kind of too perfect. This is not a criticism (far from it), but on my GFX100sII body I'm using the Mitakon and prefer the rendering to what I was getting with the native lenses, at least for my main interest of portrait photography. If I were photographing landscapes, I'd probably feel differently.
In any case, thanks for pointing out that filter. It's got me thinking...

Oh interesting. I never thought about using a filter like that, just ordered the Glimmerglass ¼. Mainly because it sounds like Glimmer Man and who doesn't want Steven Seagall approved filters?
55-57mm step up ring in reverse + 55-55 (female to female) adapter rings will give you a replacement for the front filter...
I tried with the Sigma 1.2X teleconverter and it works with FF mode with a little corner vignetting, and 1.7x teleconverter works at apsc mode that gives you 85mm. I will try 1.5X teleconverter next, that might work at FF mode which gives 52.5mm FF. Normally the Fuji front filter adapter didn't work since it puts the teleconverters further with more vignette...
Ricoh GW-4 (0.75x) converter already works with the Fuji front filter to give 21mm option... https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/68286056
f/4 is soft in the edge, better in center.
f/5.6 is little better than f/4
f/8 is sharp everywhere as well as f/11
f/16 is soft (maybe diffraction)
I will try with the shorter set up also...

One thing you'll want to watch for is reflections at certain angles when external light sources are around. They can be particularly hard to edit out, so an once of prevention in the field while shooting is worth it.

I may not be remembering correctly, but didn't you shoot a Q? You prefer this over say a Q2 or Q3? I loved my Q2 Reporter and one of biggest regrets selling that and was leaning toward that something like that again for a fixed lens walk around since Sony doesn't seem to be refreshing the Rx1r2 any time soon.
