Here is a slide show I did of our Rylee who passed away two weeks ago. This one is tough, she was just so sweet. We got here at 11 months old and she lived to 15 1/2. We had many adventures together. We are so lucky she came into our lives. This one is a little longer as I wanted to do a last tribute to her. I did the lyrics for both songs with AI.

Great Blue Heron catches a big fish, and then it takes a while for it to eat it. The video starts with still photos showing the catch, then when I saw how big the fish was I switched to video. Interesting if you have never seen them eat a big one. Last week at Ted Shanks C.A. in Pike County, MO.

What a wonderful and deeply moving tribute this is to your "Sweet Girl," Rylee. Clearly, she was MUCH loved. I had to fight back the tears more than a few times as I watched and listened carefully to these beautiful words and the amazing melodies. Rob, both songs are simply fabulous, exceptional! Your love and appreciation for your sweet girl flows from every image and every bar of music.

I believe I am the only one with a C50 in this thread but in case not I will pass this along. A new Firmware version is out for the C50, C80 and C400. It down loaded fine for me and seemingly no issues. Make sure to back up your settings, it does erase them.

Hi Folks,
I'm currently working on a short film documentary about an amazing local wildlife preserve here in Ottawa called Mud Lake (my favourite place ). I'll be making it in 4 sections and the first section is the one in this video, which is the introduction. The second section is a lot of gimbal footage about walking on the main trail in the park in order to get to a favourite shooting location at the lake. The third section will be all about babies and raising young and the fourth section will be Fall and Winter footage at the lake. I'm having a great time doing this project.
Can you have a look and a listen to this and tell me if you think it works. Please feel free to offer any critiques and/or suggestions.
Unfortunately, some of the image quality leaves a bit to be desired because I had to use some old footage from back in the day when I first started. Even though I shot everything in 4K, I exported and saved a lot of the footage to HD because my computer struggled with 4K and I couldn't afford all the storage space I would need. Oh well, it is what it is.... I'm hoping the stories and footage will carry the day and folks won't stumble over the IQ.

OK regarding the second section. I'm uploading it to YouTube right now and I'll post it here shortly. As with the above Intro section please tell me if you think it works or not. I want the viewer to feel like they're right there in the early morning sunlight in the forest walking to the lake. Let me know if you think this works in that regard?

Here is Part 2 of my little documentary film about Mud Lake here in Ottawa. It's all gimbal footage except for the last 2 clips of a Black-crowned Night Heron at the lake. It was all shot on one day last week so the whole thing was shot in 4K and exported in 4K so the IQ is great.
What I'm trying to do here is give the viewer the kind of experience I have walking on the trail through the forest in the early morning sunlight. It's really a wonderful experience. Does this video and the music convey that sense effectively?

I think you convey what you have written. Quality and score was top-notch. If you are putting this in a 4 part video all together when you share it, and it is 8-10 minutes long, in 2026 I think you will lose a lot of your audience. I don't think folks have the attention span much anymore, sad to say. Maybe if you are telling a story with that fine voice of yours, as this is playing, maybe you would retain them.

Hi Dave, thanks for watching and for your feedback.
This past year, I dealt with the questions of video popularity and viewer retention. I spent some time studying what methods and tips people use to make their Youtube videos get more views and their channel more subscribers. I learned and implemented some of those techniques and really made an effort to boost my numbers. Then, after a couple of months or so I said to myself, "Hey, what the heck are you doing?!" And that was the end of that. I realized my focus was in the wrong place. I continued doing some things to increase viewership like putting large type on my thumbnails, but that's about all I do to increase the views.
So when I'm out in the field with my camera or by the water spending time doing what I love, I ask myself "why am I doing this and for whom?" The answer is definitely not for the people on Youtube or even on the other forums I participate in. Yes, it's fun to share with others and nice when people enjoy my videos, but I do my videos for really only 2 people - myself and my wife. Marny is a nature lover like me, but she has really bad allergies and can't join me out there. However, she loves my videos and we watch them together again and again and so we get to enjoy nature together. In fact, she often gives me input and creative advice on most of my videos as I'm making them. We've had a ball doing this for the last 5 years ever since I started doing videos.
My vision for this current Mud Lake mini-documentary is to create a longer, comprehensive video that sort of does it all in one big package knowing full well that the vast majority of YouTube viewers, when they see the time stamp on it, will quickly take a pass.... and that's totally OK with me, I understand.
Nevertheless, I'll do my best to interest them right off the bat and hopefully give them enough cool stuff to give them a great viewing experience for as long as possible. (I'm really glad that I don't have to make my living at this. ).
