@lifeandmylens posted a great rendering comparison between the Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux versions 1, 2, and 3.
The takeaway is that the v1 is the most characterful.
Still not sure if an M11D is worth the entry fee. Why not get an M11P and turn the LCD brightness down to nearly zero so that the LCD serves no purpose?

The ISO numbers are a bit too cramped. Including ISO 50000 feels unnecessary
Is the ISO dial even made of metal?
I also prefer the look of the ISO dial on the top. Perhaps they could've kept the dial but assigned a different function...
it's very likely made of metal as i myself drilled four little dents in my m10d's wheels, and it clearly looked as they were made from brass - see here
for my own sake, i love the new position of that ISO dial, it's just made for my two thumbs. anyway, everybody has her/his own needs & preferences. there is no best for the whole crowd, no perfect solution for everybody.
i just hope that we here in town will soon enough get hold of the m11d - i just sold my m10d this morning, i feel a bit nude without a camera around my neck !
@pistikem
I hope to get to Montreal early next year for some street shooting. I understand that even in the winter underground shooting is always a possibility.

The ASA dial on the back on my Leica MP feels like plastic. Metal on the MD. Not sure on the M11-D. Never tried the M10-D. Is it metal?
I also appreciate the ISO dial's position on the back when using the MD. While it’s too late for changes now, I think Leica could have retained the attractive top dial for another function, like exposure compensation, resolution adjustments, or something else. On the other hand, keeping things simple might have been a smart decision and perhaps saves on production costs.
Leica could have used another selector for white balance use rather than having Auto WB as the only setting when not using the App. I like Daylight WB for consistent results. Maybe it can be set via the EVF. Not sure though.
It’s tough I agree that the design change of removing the dial knob makes it look like a previous generation M body whereas we’re so used to the design language of the present ISO dial and film rewind knobs. In my humble opinion it doesn’t seem natural but I think if you hold it in your hands or look at it enough times it’ll grow on you. Their goal was to have a clean top plate.
I could care less about ISO- Its the one thing of the Exposure triangle that I just don't care about anymore-
Maybe occasionally I want to change it but never on a consitent basis. With the M11-D emulating film, its something you shouldn't change more than once every 36 shots anyway

sure, no problemo, @stgrove, in case it fits your schedule we may walk together for a minute through the underground city here in Montréal, and drink a cup of warm/hot café/tea/cacao by that occasion. at times it can be pretty cold out there upstairs. i am not too familiar myself with those many tunnels, so it will be quasi a first time for me too (my wife knows these areas much better).

Sounds like fun. Will keep you informed. I hope you don't go down to Florida while I come up to your city.

What if used M10-D cameras go up in value just because they’re the only ones with the fake lever! :-)
I already told my dealer no lever, no sale. It's the main attraction to me of the D cameras and I think it's a mistake to remove it. Leica want to sell that awful and awfully expensive thumb attachment that takes the hotshoe and looks hideous. I'll spend the money on the Q3/43 or the pretty limited edition X2D.
