Is anyone planning to get this one at launch? With taxes, it's likely to break the 10K barrier! Simplicity doesn't come cheap!
i will definitely try to get one - i am apparently here in town first on list at our local Leica Boutique, for the last 2½ years already. i am just not sure how soon they will hit the shelves here ? and in terms of another barrier, it will surely hit the 15K line in our local dollar currency here.
i have held an m11d in my own two hands already some two months ago, a beta tester model, and since then i am convinced that this model will be my camera of choice for the coming many years in the future !

I honestly think if you're disciplined about not reviewing pictures with your LCD covered (with the M10R BP, which is such a beautiful camera) and the fact you have your MD, this M11D is superfluous.
I used to have an M10D and the experience was very liberating (as you'd know with your MD), but once I got into the mindset of not reviewing pics or relying on live view, I felt I could apply that to the other cameras I had at that time. When I sold the camera, the biggest thing I missed was the foldable thumbrest. Sometimes I do miss the idea of the camera, but the appeal of the camera diminished from a practical standpoint over time. Now I just use my Nikon ZF with LCD folded on days I want to shoot with the M(10/11)D experience. There's still excitement when I review the pics at the end of the day, though it's always very tempting to flip the LCD round to check during the day. M11D would have a similar temptation though cause of the WiFi implementation, same as the M10D (in that sense the MD is really more "pure" in the film-like shooting sense)....Show more →
Thanks for your comment. For me, the "D" series is largely about the camera's aesthetics since I already avoid checking the LCD while shooting. Film cameras are relatively new to me, but over the past two years, they've taught me to trust my instincts, focus, and exposure settings. I now apply this approach to all my cameras, including my Sony and Fuji bodies.
What I find cool about the Leica M-D Typ 262 is that it lacks EVF compatibility, menu system, FOTOS app, Wi-Fi, and Auto-ISO. This makes it, in a way, purer to photography than the M10 and M11-D models, and closer to the feeling of shooting with my MP.

I agree with everyone that with discipline, you could save yourself 9500 Euros. That’s expensive. Disclaimer: I’ve been tempted to buy a screenless M for a long time. There is absolutely a place for a screenless M in the lineup. One of these generations, I hope to own one. I would love to.
However, here’s what I’ve done to cure my GAS temptations:
- shoot with my film M body
- I turn my brightness of my M digital bodies down to the lowest setting to make them useless
- trust yourself and save the gratification for at home
I have to say it’s been easy to not look at my screen and it’s made the process so enjoyable. I bet people who own their D love it as would I. But if I can save money by changing my mentality, I will.
I think a screenless M also benefits some situation more than others. For example if I were shooting my children’s birthday parties, I would not want a screenless M to be my only camera. I’d need a screen to review, that’s just me. If you were shooting street, I bet the gratification is incredible coming home after a day of shooting. ...Show more →

From the beginning, you've been very enthusiastic about the M11-D. It seems like Leica made this camera just for you. I'm really interested in hearing your feedback whenever you get one. I'm sure you will!

I am pretty sure Camtec Photo already has it in their backroom ready for you on the 12th. An official boutique like them usually receives stock ahead of time for launch on release date. For example, Downtown Camera Toronto had a few M11-P ready to go on release date. Didn't have to wait. Congratulations!

thank you for your feedback, dystortion ! i am listed actually on Jean's M11-D list at Camtec Photo at the top, first position ! i shall hear from them soon, i suppose - but i may call them anyway in the coming days...
I seldom check my images with play or the rear LCD except for a one second look at the histogram on a digital camera. I could miss that with a D. Been offered one but not sure it would heat using my M6.
Staying with the 50-60's time period of the recent Leica lens reissues, I would think the Summicron 50mm/F2.0 Rigid V2 would be a big hit. Of course it would have the chrome nose look if paired with the M11-D or other black Ms but that colorway matching has become more popular over the years. I see it now shown quite often by influencers like Overgaard here:

The Rigid is one of my favorite lenses, though it’s not particularly rare. Leica often reintroduces lenses that are hard to find today or outrageously expensive.
I imagine some people will have the 35 SR and the 50 V1 in their kit and be done with it. What a great combination. I’m curious about the updated coatings and how that will change wide open rendering. I think we are in for a pleasant surprise for the MFD as well
