here in the US they are saying October 12 but activity at B&H seems to show it might be earlier since it looks like they are processing pre-orders.

Since yesterday the A7CR has been in stock at the three large retailers here in Sweden. I'm waiting for my local shop to get a chrome version one for me.
I guess it will be available worldwide shortly.

Where are you seeing this? I still have my pre order from first day but plan to cancel if it doesn't look like it will arrive by 10/12 since I'm leaving for a trip. Would love to get it early!

I forgot about the closure so they might be preparing everything to be ready when they get back. So assume still the 12th is the first day the will ship and if you live in the one day radius it will come on the 13th I guess.

Usually, when the order status changes to “Processing” the product is shipped the next day, by my experience. I wonder if they will attempt to get them out before their shutdown(?). Sony has authorized early release on recent products and I notice that Amazon is now shipping the A7CR.

I got notification of shipment of my order for the A7CR. It will be interesting to see the difference between the original A7C. I hope the extra magnification in the viewfinder will provide a better shooting experience!

If anyone is upgrading from the first A7C to the new one, would love to hear more on the comparison of the new (minor) EVF improvements. When I had my A7C I rarely used the EVF, but now that I'm on the A7IV I find myself using it more and more. Mostly for sunny conditions shooting, so I'm not totally married to it yet.
I miss the smaller form factor of the A7C though, and going back to the smaller EVF is the only thing giving me a slight pause.

My FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II arrived on schedule today. Will start testing it out next week. Unfortunately I have a wedding to attend this weekend so can’t really do any structured testing to see if it centered. Will try to report back. Wish me luck.

My A7CII arrived today and I took it to a nightclub tonight to see how it handles under dark conditions. Focus was years ahead of my A7RIII even in the dark. Such a step up from what I'm used to. I usually shoot with Prime lenses but put the Sigma 24-70 on because I really want to see how it handles with minimal light.
When I got home I quickly remembered that LR and DXO haven't updated so I couldn't see the uncompressed RAW files. I was able to get files to load in Luminar NEO and exported into photoshop and cropped. Other than cropping the file below is pretty much straight out of the camera (it's not a great photo by any means but just an example of what these files look like straight out of the camera).

Received my A7C II yesterday and had a chance to play with it for a few minutes this morning. The AI autofocus is incredible (as expected) and the EVF is now actually useful. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test the EVF, especially outdoors, but it is a significant improvement in my opinion. That was my major complaint on the original A7C. The build quality also seems improved from what I remember.

Folks who have already received their A7CII, could you do some wide open shots at faster shutter speeds? I would love to see how much EFCS effects the bokeh.

Not sure if this helps. First shot is mechanical shutter f/1.4 1/3200 second. Second shot is electronic f/1.4 1/8000 second Mechanical by Bill Dyke, on Flickr

Is it possible that the presumably more compact EFCS only shutter in the C series has less of an effect than typical full mechanical shutters utilizing EFCS? From what I understand the bokeh chopping is due to the distance from the shutter plane and sensor plane so if this is reduced in a compact shutter design perhaps effect is lessened?
I know that's just 1 shot and it can be very situational. You can certainly see the faded bokeh in the upper left corner but it seems mild compared to other examples I've seen at that shutter speed. I've seen plenty of EFCS on vs off examples but I don't think I've seen them on the C cameras specifically.
