Its perfectly fine for anyone doing street photography, landscape etc. Small, decent price and comes with an excellent lens lineup for anything other than serious wildlife and bird photography, which would be limited with 11FPS anyways.

Totally agree…there is more to photography than BIF. These cameras make for a great backup during travels as they take up very little room in a pack. I always have my A6000 sitting quietly and unnoticed in my pack ready to be used in case of need. I also bring out the A6000 with a 35 2.8 lens when I am out not specifically for photography like out for dinner or drinks.

Size, weight and price makes this a very attractive backup camera.

If you look through the wildlife images here, you will see a huge number of the posted photos could easily been taken with this camera. Most images are of stationary animals not requiring anything faster than 11fps.

Yeah. The Sigma APSC primes are wicked sharp, inexpensive and reasonably small.

Also, its probably not horrible for BIF. It will be limited by frame rate, but the AF system is the best available. A lot of people get into bird/wildlife photography with that genre in mind, but a lot of people find themselves in that genre after trying other forms of photography. I bought an A6400 a while back thinking I would get into street photography and city scapes. I then moved to the suburbs, and decided to go for nature walks with my camera. A few years later, I have an A9 and an A1, and primarily shoot wildlife and birds. Sony provided options for trying multiple genres without committing many thousands on gear.

For me this has a certain appeal I like a lot. Uses the same battery as my A7rV. Thats a big as my ZV_10 I had to charge via their cable to my computer . PITA really but also I can use this as a travel cam as usually im not that serious on travel and don't really need my 61mpx cam and just want to have some fun. On work stuff I get a 300mm 26mpx camera which is a great backup to my A7RV and at times can use as primary. It solves another issue I need two cams next show that shoot 300mm as I need two shooters in different rooms. Solves a big issue. Plus it's far better than my EV-10 which was a total shit hit the fan cam . I can get rid of that as this I can actually use. That FPS comment, really go home troll. Stupid ass comment. I never needed past 5 in my whole career. I get that people need it but its not going to be this camera

Yeah, for anything other than fast action, its perfectly fine. I guess I wouldn't buy it if wildlife or birds was my primary focus, because its good to have room to grow, but could be an interesting back up body.

Be realistic no one is buying this for any serious wildlife or BIF. I would never even consider it . It's a nice backup, travel or a just a hobbyist cam that is small and light and not very expensive. Is that not good enough

Might be a good one for one of my kids heading to college this fall, he likes photography and wants to do more video. This or a Fujifilm X-S20, the deciding factor might be that he can use my nice Sony glass every now and then.

Not very impressed by the a6700.I expected slightly higher resolution (32Mpx),20fps and two card slots. From my point of view no reason to replace my a6600 with this newcomer.

Same...I think it's ~fine~ but not a compelling camera in the current landscape. I think the long delay from the old model is what makes this release all the more mediocre feeling.

I'm sure the AF still blows the R7 away though. Have you seen the recent YT vids and threads on how bad R7 AF is?

I'd rather have 11FPS in focus than 30FPS with maybe 2 in focus judging from what I've been hearing about the R7.

If this AF is similar to A7RV then this thing will be an AF machine.
I see it does have AI chip so that means AF will be stellar.

Having watched Sony’s new APSC model launches since getting my A6000, I think it’s pretty clear that Sony views the APSC line as a more consumer oriented line than their FF cameras. From this standpoint, sony is not going to be offering all of the bells and whistles that Fuji builds into their APSC lineup.

For Sony FF users, the current models provide a nice backup body.

I am feeling pretty enthusiastic about this body. I couldn't care less about BIF or sports action. But this body has enhanced autofocus, enhanced dynamic range, enhanced IBIS, enhanced low light sensitivity, two slots (I think), and enhanced ergonomics. All of this is delivered in a very small and lightweight body.

For me, the smallness of the body and the technical enhancements and what I assume will be its quickness for shooting, give it an appeal that for me (I know that others will feel very differently) is similar to the original rationale for Leica--a small, unintimidating, fast camera body to record high quality, documentary-style images in whatever context (family, travel, street, events, etc.) one might find them.

I am planning on getting one and using it at least until I see what the A7CII brings.

It does not have enhanced IBIS or 2 slots (1 SD only).
