I'm sure this is a nice camera, but it's still a bit of a sad thing that after Nikon all but ditching aps-c, also per Sony, the Nikon D500 aps-c days will not return in mirrorless.

If Sony had done anything like what was rumoured or requested I think A1 sales would totally stop. Even changed to a camcorder screen for good measure ala smaller buffer on a6600 vs. a6500 to protect a6600 sales. I think I need to stop expecting to see cameras as optimal photographic instruments as their primary function because that's not often what they are. A camera must support the camera company first and foremost.

The press image on B&H makes it look like 2 slots but it's just 1.
I don't think DR at base ISO will be any different to it's predecessor will it? The AF and IBIS is mostly the same as the a6600 according to reports.
It's actually hard to know. They say "AI enhanced autofocus and image stabilization" at B&H. Also, enhanced 14 stop DR. The low light sensitivity optimization is valuable to me.

I am ordering this camera day one. It is perfect for me. The biggest letdown is the 1 card slot and lame low res EVF. I'd rather the camera be like $1599 (like rumored) and have those two things rather than this iteration at $1399, but whatever

Good point, didn't see that part.
This is a comparison of the latest BSI Fujis and the a6600.

Doesn't seem like it. Perhaps the last/best of the aps-c sensors in an ff size body. TBH, I'm not sure I'd care if the stacked sensor fast almost A9 came in either the A6xxx or A7xx body. Small body for size and convenience, larger body would help in wrestling larger lenses where small body size really isn't a benefit.

So here is my questions to the group. How well do you think the small FE f/2.5 G and Sigma I-Series Contemporary full frame lenses will work on it? I have those lenses for my A7C and might try out a body but not sure what, if any APS-C lenses I would buy for it. Admit I could probably try these lenses out on an A7RV in APS-C crop since the cropped sensor and the A6700 sensor are both ~26 Mpixels. But that will take some time so I wondered if any one had experience or on opinion.
Also, what are the best APS-C primes these days for the E mount?
Finally, wonder what new features this telegraphs for the rumored A7CII like a new front scroll wheel and AI processing chip for AF and new menu/touch screen. Any others?

having two a1 bodies, I personally don't care (I only shoot stills). I can shoot in APS-C mode and still have about 20MP, no rolling shutters (*due to the stacked sensor) and 30fps (yes, I know... the a1 is also a LOT more expensive). So, I'm good. However, this brings me to my next point... Coming from someone that works part-time at a camera shop, if the a6700 doesn't come close to the Canon R7 at 15fps (20fps in e-shutter), the a6700 would be a fail. Sony's 10fps is soooo 2014, you have to go to the a9/a9II/a1 to get anything faster. Maybe Sony will make people wait for the a7000 ...Show more →

In the early 2000s Nikon also said that they would never make a full-sized sensor. Canon is selling 4 bodies with APS-C sensors. Sony has APS-C sensors. I'd like to see higher resolution though. 26MP is similar to cropping from the 60MP. Fuji has XT-5 @40MP. APS-C always has some advantages, but not for everyone.

Saw that brand new A7C's are on sale for $1,598...never mind the used market. Personally I'd go that route for a 2nd body to supplement my A1 instead. But get that there are upgrades the A6700 has that would benefit some better than an A7C.
