Overall offering seems to be more on par with the A7IV, but is this really the Pro grade APS-C flagship that people hoped for? I honestly don't know
No, it's not any sort of 'Pro grade' APS-C. It's upper level enthusiast.
It's a nice update of the A6600, bringing a number of distinct improvements both from the A7C body and all-new, but it's definitely a price point camera as well.
Despite some of the rumours, it's still got the A7C card setup (updated to UHS-II, but not the 2x UHS-II/CFE-A slots rumoured), still got the small and lower-spec EVF, still only 11fps, has the old IBIS system from the A6600 and still is lacking an AF joystick.
It seems like Sony wanted to bring something in that's cheaper than the R7 and looks like it should be. That said, the AF better be killer (and I expect it will be), because otherwise this seems like a body that should be more than $100 cheaper than faster and generally better spec'd R7.
The flip side of that is $100 cheaper than the A6700 is the X-S20 and to me the A6700 definitely looks like $100 more camera than the X-S20 (direct card access, a bigger EVF and a faster mech shutter, but the X-S20 gets a joystick and faster E-shutter).

Kind of underwhelming specs. The 10bit upgrade is needed for video shooters, but everything else is pretty whatever.
Yes, and for wildlife it would be nice to have a central (and better) EVF. But at least it's very light (less than 500 g). So there's that.
And no pre-shot. The read out on this one is fast enough that it should be a no-brainer. Sony is pretty much the last hold out here, hopefully they'll add it to the A9 or A1 follow ons.

The biggest disappointment is FPS.
Canon is giving 40FPS in cheap cameras. This thing manages 11FPS.
But given such a low price point I may pick this up as a backup to the A1. I'll give it some thought. I'm still just running a single camera A1 setup which is fine if nothing breaks and I don't travel. Don't want to spend much on a backup as it won't be a camera to use at the same time as A1...just backup. Of course I would play around with some of the features A1 is lacking like BEAF in video etc.

Faster than the A7RV
Watched Lee Zavitz's video on it, IBIS looks meh for an APS-C camera, rolling shutter in video was terrible, high noise/crop in many video modes...hard to tell what exactly this camera is trying to be in the 2023 landscape.

I was surprised it doesn’t out preform the canon R7, all I can think is that we will see an A7000 line, some decent improvements over the 6600 but for the elapsed time you expect more

They should have called it a6000 MII. They might have sold more by doing that.

Its perfectly fine for anyone doing street photography, landscape etc. Small, decent price and comes with an excellent lens lineup for anything other than serious wildlife and bird photography, which would be limited with 11FPS anyways.
