Here's that 16-35PZ test going RAW -> LR jpeg -> edit with paint.net (levels gunched something fierce to make the moire more obvious). Quick and dirty, but it's still a kewl lens. (16mm at f/4.0 maybe iffy, everything else fine.)

Thought I'll put it here since I've stumbled upon it on DPR, some user are reporting VG-C4EM (original and Meike 3rd-party) grip does not sit flush with A7RV compared to A1 / A7RIV / A7IV: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4687001

I am using the Sony grip with the A7 IV and A7R V and have no issues. If there is a difference then it is so small that I haven’t noticed it.
UPDATE: I checked closely and there is a slight difference. You can't unsee these things but it's not bothersome when holding the camera.

About Face !
I just checked again...there is a slight difference. The A1 fits an ever slight bit more flush( still a tiny gap that some light can get through if you look really hard) to the VG-C4EM Vertical Grip than the A7rV. Not something that I would buy a new grip. But for those that scrutinize such things...

Just wanted to report that with today, Tuesday, 13-Dec-2022, I successfully updated LR and Camera RAW versions on my desktop (Intel I9) and on my M1 MacBook Air with LR 12.1 and ACR 15.1. Now I need to see if it will handle an A7RV RAW file. Will also test out Capture One and Affinity Photo.

Overall, look and feel = same-same to me.
That's good to hear, as the photos posted in the DPR thread looked quite jarring (as if the gasket didn't really cover the battery compartment).

Time to party. Ready to rock. Man these two bodies are fairly close. Oh and the electronic shutter is fine with me and so is the slight blackout . When I need it then all will be well. Honestly I loved the A1 but I was not fond of the blackout as it was so fast I had a hard time seeing if I actually shot. Of course that's when I'm under the gun. But I can see that I'm not going to miss a moving subject due to blackout, maybe rolling shutter but that I will test. Sure better readout and faster black out would be welcome but I never really needed full bore of the A1 I just moved up from the A9II because I wanted a bigger file. Seriously I'm done with 24mpx

I loved the A9 and A9II as my first stack sensor cameras but agree with you. The only 24 Mpixel camera I have left in my collection are the A7C since it’s small, easy to carry, and compatible with my E mount systems. The other is my APS-C Fuji X-E2 which is very similar range finder style. Everything else is now 45 Mpixels and up. Bring back the R1RX and it’s great 42 Mpixels with modern updates.

Had to reload C1 as something happened upgrading to Ventura 13.1 . Just a lot of battles I ran into should be all good now. Just testing my whole system camera/computer and a quick shot.

Have been using my new A7RV but do wish the Electronic Shutter generated sound like on the Alpha 1. I do miss that. I've updated 3 of the 4 OSS lenses but still need to update the 200-600 and then I will be all set.
Haven't tried putting on my VG-C4EM grip but the reports concern me because I have been unhappy with its fit on the A1s I have. In realty that fit already shows space that the A7RIV and A9II never showed. The gap on the A1 is small but if the A7RV is larger that maybe a show stopper for using the existing grip. For my planned use of the A7RV is different than the A1 but having it available would still be nice. We will see.
Also need to now wait for some other third party software to come of age (DXO PureRAW2 and Photolabs 6) but now that Adobe and Capture One are working and I think Topaz AI I can really put the new camera to work.
Now I'm just wondering when Sony will announce the FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II. My son has taken control of my version 1 to use with his A7SIII. Problem is he has it completely across the country where he lives.

Focus stacking works well, have only tested in macro with Sony 90mm macro lens but with 1:87 scale vehicle at 35cm from lens, I put 120 shots with a spacing of 10 and it took all 120 shots lol, I was expecting 25-40.
VG-C4EM "fits" ..... it's not perfect and you definitely look like you're losing weather sealing at the battery door so no go for me, it'll be gripless. The AF so far in my limited testing has been phenomenal. Can't wait to put it to work!

Thought I would post one image with the A7RV + FE 200-600. Only using LR classic. Cropped slightly.= and output at 3200 x 2400 to JPEG. Processed as a RAW file though.

I did some initial testing a couple days ago and thought the rep rate was a little slow, making it difficult to do landscapes handheld. I was using a fast shutter speed, so it should have been faster, I think. Going out this morning to try again with just raw, instead of raw + jpg.
Not a big deal, plus I was using the 200-600 at 200, which made it more difficult than a wide angle.
Sure is nice finally having focus bracketing!

Did some more testing of the repetition rate.
First, I found out that no matter how many images you tell it to take, it will stop when it hits infinity. That should have been obvious, but it did catch me off guard when I used the 18gm and it stopped taking photos after 2 shots (I was using spacing set to 10 and first focus was out there pretty far ).
Changed spacing to the default of 4 and started the shots focusing on something at minimum focus distance, which gave me 24 shots each time.
Shutter speed was 1/2000 sec.
Results: it took approximately 13 seconds for 24 shots no matter whether I used jpeg only or raw only and whether I used mechanical or electronic shutter. This seems slow, since it is capable of taking continuous shots at 10 fps.
