I haven't had a chance to try focus stacking yet - I'm not much of a landscape or wide-angle shooter, but I'm looking forward to trying that out.

By the way, I see several people talking about waiting until EDU discount. Are you all college or HS teachers? Or is there another way to score that discount? (PM if need be)

The shutter sounds about half as loud as A7R3, and about on par with A1 (in non-silent mode). It certainly feels more dampened than the older camera.

Well, blimey! That’s it. I’ve got to get one to replace my R III!

The quieter shutter is another advantage then.
I suppose there is still no way to configure the camera to turn EFCS off when shutter speed is faster than some threshold ?

No, I don't think so. Unfortunately there is no auto-EFCS, which would seem super simple to implement.

Oh, don’t get me wrong! My response was a bit tongue in cheek, but a quiet shutter is nothing to sneeze at. While shooting people, it can make a subtle difference between tolerance and annoyance. I quickly learned that with the R 1 and 2….

Interesting, I tried it with my crappy decibel meter app, and its about 5-7db for both, but r5 sounds dampened.

My poor man's iPhone decibel app put the a7R III at max of 76.2, the a7R V was 65.

I had the phone about an inch away from the back center of the camera. If you had the camera further away, then I would expect it to measure lower. Proper testing probably wouldn't have had the camera so close to the phone (maybe more like your numbers then.)

Have jury selection for jury duty on Friday. Then I have jury duty next week. My plan was to go down to Conowingo on Saturday or Sunday, but neither day is looking very good now. Maybe Saturday is a little more favorable.

But that was my plan....just not sure it will make sense with the weather.

Parking on weekends can be nuts but they are running the shuttle from the visitors center to the dam in case you can't find parking at the dam. Hope you get to test it.

Another test if someone wants to try the Af. Many times with a model they may turn there head and the A1 will lose them. One of my issues actually with runway it may jump from one model to other on the same plane. It’s another reason been looking at this is the sticker AF setup. Like i said there is some real value that i see on this cam. This certainly maybe the main one. In this case im in crop mode at 300mm which is tough enough to track focus

Exactly, most of us don't need these expensive CFE -Type A cards. But after a few deep discounts/specials deals I somehow ended up with four! I can't remember the last time an SD card came even close to my A1 🙃

Curious to know if your A1 battery grip fits the A7rV--I'm guessing it does since I think both cameras are the same form factor at least where the grip will attach?

For my A1 I use two CFexpress A cards from Prograde. They had a great deal awhile back that save over $200 over Sony at the time. I been cautious with Lexar since it was bought out. Some have said they have had issue with the UHS-II product.
For the RV I know it will eventually upgrade its card to CFexpress but will wait until I find a good deal.

I know. I can't easily take off during the because I'm already going to be out for jury duty. And even forgetting that, I don't have much time I can take due to having to take a bunch of time off for some medical issues my son had earlier this year. So it may be closer to Christmas when I can do it. I try to avoid going on weekends, but I don't have a lot of options over the next couple of weeks. Good to know they are running the shuttle again.

What do you guys feel about the new lcd mechanism? I like the flexibility but I also feel it has a little more play compared to the A7RIII. Even a little more than the flippy lcd of the A7C.
Basically the housing that holds the lcd panel is attached to the tilt mechanism via a similar design to what the A7C has. But because the A7C LCD is nestled inside a cutout in the body, the play is less.

I have interests to have dual systems but Some review say that for moving subjects while the af performance regarding subject recognition respond excellent in the view finder while attempting to take a photo but after reviewing the images, they don't look like being in focus.

I would wait until more reviews become available.

I've been playing with it for a while - one of my main reasons for getting a7r5 was for the flippy screen, and while its incredibly versatile, I'm finding it a bit weird to control. Especially where the vertical tilt goes against where the L-bracket mounting plate is in portrait mode, so the screen has to be rotated first into a different position. Something to get used to. It also does seem like it sticks out a bit too much - it would be nice if it was more flush when folded in.

Playing around with the R5 some this evening, mostly in the setup and button customization screen. Took about 50 shots, all casual indoor with a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 lens.

Image quality is great
I can tell a pretty big difference in the IBIS, able to hand-hold MUCH longer (one of the main reasons I bought it)
AF tracking worked pretty well with my 3 dachshunds (who looked at me like I was nuts)
Battery seems to drain faster than my A1
Does have issues with banding when using e-shutter

Been awhile but Fuji allowed you to set up auto transition from Mechanical, to EFCS, to Electronic based on Shutter Speed markers that could be adjusted. Worked great.
