z9 with 600mm F4e. The last shots with my 600 fl until the new 600mm come out. hopefully it won't be too long
Why last shots? Did you sell the 600 E?
I'm actually thinking about grabbing one instead of the S whenever it does get announced as it seems to be performing INCREDIBLY well on the Z9, adapted. Figured it will be sold off by many, and maybe some decent discounts coming up?

Yes, I sold it 2 days ago. I am waiting for the new 600mm f4s

I don't know if I can wait that long!
haha
I've got the 400S on preorder, but I might skip this one and wait for the 600 - the 500PF should hold me over til then (I hope)

Yeah, I had a serious buyer so I sold it. I'll buy a used tamron 150-600 g2 in the meantime

The 500 + 1.4x TCIII makes for a great combo and *very* useable on the Z9. I think that any softness issues with the 500 pf + 1.4x TCIII on DSLR's may be down to slow or inaccurate AF. No such problems on the Z9.
Many have been cropped, some quite considerably. Some at very high ISO's up to 11400. All shot wide open at f8. All used Animal Eye AF which worked perfectly.

okay, so everyone here is showing how WELL the Z9 works with the 500pf, AND the 1.4xTC III... I might just need to grab another teleconverter to try it out myself (I sold my TC with my D850 a while back as it didn't perform well with the 500PF).

I’m jealous of the amazing bird images y’all are capturing, thanks for posting! I hope to test out my Z9 on some good BIF opportunities this year, but so far have been on a 6-week landscape shoot with it in the Southwest.
I continue to be very impressed with the look of the files for landscape work and their ability to be massaged in post, especially at ISO 64. Here’s a recent image from Chiricahua in AZ with sunset light where I needed the Z9 to capture a wide DR so I could properly process it in LR, and it did not fail me. If you want to see more Z9 images from this shoot I posted a series of ten in the Landscape forum and #’s 1,3,4,6,8,9 are from the Z9: The Magic of Chiricahua

Has anyone use shutter release cable with Z9 ?
I have 2 third party cables (lost Nikon one long time ago) which worked just fine with my Nikon DSLR.
One did not work at all with Z9 and the other worked ok but the locking screw does not fit and I cannot lock cable jack to the camera so I can just plug in the cable but cannot lock it so cable fall off regularly
I assume Nikon shutter release cable would have the same problem?

Was snowing pretty hard ..was using animal zone AF 840mm 1/2000sec iso 640...snow does wonders for iso...locked on very fast ! Short-eared Owl by C Hantis, on Flickr

Nikon MC12A (over 30 years old from my F4s) adapted to my F5 and later via the Nikon MC25 adapter worked/works to this day from my D3 to my current Z9
Vello wired Shutter Boss seems to function normally at its baseline. haven't tried the other functions yet.
pearstone wired works.
all screwed into the port normally. one with a little nudge

All 10-pin accessories should work, but I have found it trickier to screw into the Z9 compared to the D850, it has been a two-handed operation of pressing the accessory firmly into the socket at just the right orientation while simultaneously trying to get the finicky threads started, but eventually it catches and screws in just fine and locks up tight. So far I have used the Vello FreeWave Micro Wireless, and finally gave in and plunked down the cash for the superb Nikon WR-R11a/WR-T10 Remote Controller Set.
