I think regardless of exactly what these lenses are the lineup of Sony E-Mount primes has gotten very strong. Even if Sony quits producing the Sony/Zeiss lenses we still have:
Sony 20 f/1.8G
Sony 24 f/1.4 GM; new Sony 24G
Sony 28 f/2
Sony 35 f/1.4 GM; Sony 35 f/1.8
new Sony 40G
Sony 50 f/1.2 GM; new Sony 50G; Sony 50 f/1.8; Sony 50 f/2.8 Macro
Sony 85 f/1.4 GM; Sony 85 f/1.8
Sony 90 f/2.8 G Macro
Sony 100 f/2.8 GM STF
Sony 135 f/1.8 GM
Not to beat a dead horse but every one of these focal lengths has a G or GM lens (which have all been very good to excellent designs) except for 28mm, and it is not as if the 28 f/2 was one of the best non G or GM lenses either. Please Sony give us a good 28mm.
In fact, if I were rating what I would still like to see from Sony that good 28mm would top my list. Followed by a 100, I would love a 100 f/2 G, but a 100 f/1.4 GM would be an interesting lens too. I think Sony really needs a longer macro as well--either a 150 or 180; then a bunch of longer lenses and finally a set of tilt/shift lenses would round out Sony's offerings well....Show more →
The other lenses Sony is missing is on the longer end like the 200 f2.8 and a 300 f4. I'd like Sony to spend some of their resources looking at this end of the spectrum and not producing anymore ( at least for now ) the 20-100mm range lenses. We have plenty to choose from now.

Yes we need a small great 35.
Can’t tell if this is sarcasm? Didn’t we just get a couple of these?
Looking forward to seeing what the 40 and 50 are like. Can’t guarantee I’d buy anything – I’m pretty set with the 35GM and the Sigma 45, but something close to the Sigma’s rendering with better AF could be tempting.

They need to be either optically perfect or $400-500 in that case. I'm honestly not convinced that Sony can deliver equivalents to the Sigma I series in terms of polish at a price point that people would go for.

A 24mm 2.8 is rather traditional and if it's small and good, will be welcome. I just hope that it is small, good and cheap. The Tamron is $199 at the moment.

You are asking for a lot, "small, good, cheap". I'd take small, good and moderately priced...but then a 24 2.8 lens does not interest me.

The lenses will be very well made in G build and quality. Probably very small and ultra sharp and well corrected. A good addition and option for those looking to go light. I doubt it will be comparable to the Sigma I series, rendering will lean towards perfection rather than character.

Nokishita also say they should be announced next week.
If they are Sony 24/2.8 G, 40/2.5 G and 50/2.5 G:
Will they have any macro capabilities? The Tamron trio 20/2.8, 24/2.8, 35/2.8 and Sigma 24/3.5 C all do.
Will they be internal focus? I expect that from G lenses, but don’t know. The Sigma 24/3.5 is, the Tamron trio, only half-way, barrel within barrel approach.
Are they designed with the Sony A7c in mind? A way of replacing APS-C, though being small these lenses would be equally at home on just APS-C as on full frame.

I hope they are 35mm ZA level in size. Depending on price and size, the 50 is almost a lock. It does need to be compact and smaller than the 1.8 by a good amount

A stray thought; compact Sony 24/2.8 G, 40/2.5 G and 50/2.5 G now that Nikon has got compact 28mm and 40mm lenses on their roadmap. Poor Nikon, late again?

Yep, at those speeds, they need to be Sony 35 2.8 small. Personally I'm more interested in the Sigma 28-70 rather than slow primes.

The latest rumor is that Nikon will also announce these lenses in the next weeks, so pretty close (which is also interesting in itself). You forgot the Nikon 50mm Macro, likely f/2.8, so also quite similar to the 50/2.5 G

Sony has already got a 50/2.8 Macro for E-mount. This means it will be interesting to see what kind of lens the Sony 50/2.5 G actually turns out to be.
