I absolutely love these little firecrackers of joy.
As much as i love 40mm as a 21th century proposal to be the new normal normal… i was disappointed, like most here, about the odd close gaping. Would have made sense to have 24/35/50 sure.
Today, i had an epiphany… the 3 lenses are perfect in their focal length, it just needs to be a quartett 🥰
Introducing a forth 28mm counterpart would be just perfect for me.
The 24 is more of a 22-23 so taking it out as a pair with the 50 never worked for me. Taking all three is odd, because i kinda struggle with the closeness of the 40 and 50 in the field.
Having a quartett, that is actuall more like two pairs, would be amazing.
Some would choose 24/40, others 28/50. For me the latter would currently my dream mini kit.
What do you think?
It goes without saying that a sensational 1.4/28 GM is overdue forever. My most anticipated GM for quite some time 🥰
The 24mm isn't my most used lens but I'm glad I have it. It's small and light enough to just add to the photo bag for the day without worry of a weight penalty.

I went with 24/40, but kind of wish I had the 50.
But also in my bag is 90.
My original kit was 20 1.8 doubled to 40 2.5 doubled+some to the 90.
I think the 50 would have been a better fit, but you live and learn.
I liked the form of the 40 so I picked up the 24... so now the 20 stays on the shelf - but I will be using it for astro and low light.

I find my 40G lens very sharp with a nice contrast. Amazing and small.
Same 24G. I dont have 50G, but looks like whole small G series are performing similar - nice contrasty and sharp lens, very compact, small and very light. Any Voigtlander mounted on my a7c is heavier than these.

I'm late to the party but I love to handle these tiny lenses. Have not been tempted to reach for manual focus lenses recently.

Taking a shot in the dark here but has anyone tried these with a macro extension tube? I have the 40 and 50 and I see Meike has a pretty cheap extension tube set on ebay.

I love my 40G, I know I'm WAY late to the party too, but I'm just very impressed with this lens. As I look through my m10R/35 Summilux shots intermixed with this 40 and my a7cR, I sometimes mistake the Sony images for the Leica. (surprised me)
Thinking about grabbing the 24mm, such great travel lenses.

That's kinda what I thought until I tried the 40. If you haven't tried one, it might surprise you. I haven't wished it was faster in the field yet. Cheers.

I wish Sony made more of these. While I didn't love the 40 when I tested it, I know many do. I would love more compact prime lenses with 2.8 apertures. It would be super sick to have F/2 apertures but that feels like asking for too much. I don't know if anyone makes an F/2 that's as small as these lenses, features lighting fast AF and reasonably good optics.

Since I just ordered the A7CR I would like a lens that is small and light to have on it. I know im grabbing the 24-50 or even the 20-70 but love to have a small prime that is not work intended but more walk around

I think the little 40G and 50G are both great choices for a light weight walk around. Great quality and focus speed for such a small lens.
Right now my carry with the A7C2 is the 24G, Sigma 30mm f/2, and the 50G. I have the Tamron50-400 on order and hope to pick up the 24-50G used eventually.
I think that when I do eventually get the 24-50G I will keep the 50G and sell the other primes.
I do sometimes miss having an ultra-fast prime but I don't miss the weight.
