Yea Amazon screwed up my 35mm GM order. I ended up just ordering it from Adorama - it was listed as backordered at the time and I still got it within 48hrs. Seems that BH and Adorama are the way to go for these new Sony releases.

My FE 50mm f/1.2 GM has shipped from B&H earlier today, 12-May-21. Now I get to see who is more correct on the delivery date, B&H that has it tomorrow or FedEX that has it a day later. Same thing happened with the FE 35/1.4 an luckily B&H was right. Either way I know I will have it to use this weekend. Now hope the weather will be good. Normally I am not a weather watcher except in cases like this.
And even better I shipped off my 50/1.4 ZA that I sold through FM today and my 55/1.8 ZA last week. My wife commented, as I told her I was going to the post office, that it looks like I am spending more time selling and buying gear than time spent actually shooting. This past year she is right but the last few weeks that has finally started to change.

The status was always "backordered" since the moment you place the pre-order if I remember correctly. We just have to wait and see if our orders end up getting shipped tomorrow..

When Sony first announced the lens I was disappointed. I wanted a smaller f1.4.
But I quickly warmed to the idea of using what is arguably the best 50mm lens ever made (sorry Leica Noctilux)🙂. I’ve had the distinct feeling this 50/1.2 will be a friend for a long time, and I’ve warned my family that they should prepare themselves to be annoyed by me taking pictures of them at all hours. Sorry wife and kids. 😀

Damn, talked to B&H support over their live chat feature and the rep said they've sold out of their initial allotment and do not have a estimate on when they will get more.
My order is just "Backordered" with no shipping estimate now.

Whatever you do, do not cancel your preorder with B&H. You could try placing one with Adorama and see which ships first.
I made the mistake of cancelling my 35 GM preorder with B&H when I had the same uncertainty, and made an order (past preorder date) with Adorama. To my surprise, Adorama processed and shipped the lens right away.
For the 50 GM, I think Adorama hasn't received their initial shipment yet from Sony. Perhaps there's a chance. I'm only basing this on the fact that no one here has posted about receiving theirs from Adorama yet. That said, I could be wrong, as I'm a late preorderer (4/21).
I'm also pretty sure a few will show up in the B&S forum for those that took the shotgun approach and preordered from multiple retailers.

Yea I thought about placing an order at some other places, but at this point I assume any place that is only accepting pre-orders/backorders will take even longer than B&H.
There are a few shops online that say they have the lens in stock... but reviews of those retailers seem pretty shady.
Looks like BestBuy hasnt accepted any pre-orders at all, so I added myself to the notify list for them and will just hold on to my B&H pre-order for now.

Just to provide status and not gloat. I did receive my FE 50mm f/1.2 GM today via FedEx from B&H.
I will not be taking or sharing any cat pictures. No cat here these days.
AF speed is VERY fast from what I can tell. Using an A7R IV to evaluate.

I preordered on the morning it opened at Adorama and received my lens in the mail today. I haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet to provide pictures but wanted to confirm that Adorama has at least shipped some of them.
