Hi Geoff, they are a sensitive lot over here in the Sony forum. I remember when you came over and kick the door down.. they came after you with knives and daggers man... lol.
But look at you now the adopted son that can do no wrong...
Well if I can convince myself or someone else can convince me that I can get better results from the
A1 than my R5, I'll be a permanent fixture over here. So grease up your ignore buttons...
No hard feelings or sensitivity, just you spuing BS. I’ll go over to the canon forum and state that the a1 is superior to the R5 in every way regardless of price and I’ve watched all the YouTube videos on the R5 to validate my opinion. Change my mind. Then after the canon folk get all riled up, I’ll say I was joking and how they’re such a sensitive bunch.

Pius didn't make valid points all the time, unless it is o.k. to make absolute claims from youtube videos.
I agree that the comment you are referring to should be issued much more politely. However, you should call out Pius, too, when using "lack of mental capacity", "fanboy" or "crap" to flavor his comments.
More politely? Other than the writing comment, which was hardly offensive, I basically mocked everything he had already said so everyone could clearly see his non productive and obviously inflammatory comments. No one has time for that. If something is funny sure, but dumb and irritating are just that. Sorry, not sorry? I’ve enjoyed your posts btw and the info you’ve provided on the a1 vs other Sony bodies. Thank you for that.
So just out of curiosity can you show me the R5 doing this
That's 1.5 seconds and 43 in focus images 1 out of focus and 2 missed frames in that sequence.
I think even you would have to agree the R5 cannot do that - now to me that seems like I would have 10 more frames to choose from than I would have from an R5.
What exactly did you mean by "Keep Up".
Bear in mind I don't care if it does or doesn't keep up - I am just curious by what measure you think it "Keeps Up".
I guess if you mean it is "One Third Behind" then yes I suppose it does "Keep Up".
BTW this is intended for Pius (I have no idea how to respond directly to him on this forum)

Geoff you selling your a9ii or keeping it?
Most likely selling it but I'm holding onto it a little bit longer as I still want to flush out a bit more comparison. I'm still getting to grips with how the A1 does vs the A9II with the 200-600/1.4TC and the 600GM/2xTC for action shooting. The A1 only has a reach advantage over the A9II if I can rely on those two combinations to perform as well as they do on my A9II. I'm not convinced that they do yet.
Then again, I wouldn't entertain selling the A1 and just continuing on with the A9II because there are so many other good improvements between the two. I may just be a little disappointed if I end up with the same "reach" because I only feel I can rely on the bare 200-600 and the 600GM/1.4TC for action/BIF.
Because I mostly just use a single camera at any given time I will still likely sell the A9II regardless of what I conclude about the lens/TC combinations. I will more likely pick up a future A74 (likely new processor, new menus and BEAF minus the stacked sensor) or a used A9(M1) (which I know I can trust ignoring the ergonomics and slow interface) as a backup for when I travel.

Oh they are sensitive on all three of the main boards. With all the jumping around between systems I do I'm at the receiving end of it from all three whenever I switch to something else. Until I bought the R5 a few members of the Canon board literally told me I wasn't welcome to post over there anymore because I wasn't shooting Canon as my main system anymore. Even though I probably still owned more Canon gear and had shot more Canon frames than most of the guys complaining.
That same thing has now happened on the Nikon threads and it happened here when I started doing R5 vs A9 comparisons.
This is only a select few individuals on each board so I just accept that human nature and ignore it (for the most part). Just wait till I pick up the Z9....you'll see it play out like clockwork...I can guarantee it

Wow, you just don't quit with the BS, do you a real mouth piece, the thread is called "A1 Reviews/Video thread.. Why are you hanging out here if you don't watch vids and and read reviews. We are definitely not leaning anything from the tapping on your keyboard. You're just a troll waiting for someone to say something negative about Sony products. Get a grip on life and crawl back in your hole.
The Ignore button is pushed on you...
Can't say I understand people who tie so much of their identity to a brand or article. Shoot what you like and be happy with it. Who gives a toss what anyone else does? Does it work for you? Yes? Awesome. STFU, live and let live.
No one will think less of you for shooting a less capable body/lens/etc...at least, no one worth your time.
Your alpha 1 comment with a Canon A1 photo is hilarious though and everyone knows you shot with the R5 and you proved how capable of a camera it is multiple times. Just as you have with the a9/a9 II and now the a1. No camera is perfect, but surly when R1 arrives it’ll be more capable than the R5 just as the Sony a1 is now, but at a likely $6,500 or more is the additional cost over an R5 worth it to most folks? Not hardly.
There is a clear difference of being funny and being a troll. I haven’t ever seen you trolling, must be a lack of bridges in your area.
Here is something odd that happened today with my A1. It is remaining in the .91x magnification view and not switching into the .7x Zoomed out view when I go to 30 FPS mode. Any ideas why that would be? I thought maybe it had glitched and would go back to normal behavior after a power cycle. But no, even after pulling a battery to get a new charged one it is still in .9x when in H+.
Any ideas if there is a setting that may have caused this?? I’m fine with it as would rather have full mag in H+ but it isn’t supposed to, is it??

Do you a real mouth piece? I have watched the videos and have read the reviews. I hope you aren’t “leaning” anything from tapping on my keyboard. You can say something negative about any brand you’d like, so long as it’s true and not biased fanboyism. I’ll gladly keep you unignored. It’s good to see you clearly enjoying your R5 by validating how awesome it is on a Sony board.

Are you sure it ever zoomed out on 30fps? I only see the zoom out on Finder Frame Rate: Higher (Hi+/240fps).

Do you realize we pay money to be here, I pay a yearly fee to access to this this site. this is not your forum or just for Sony users. I can come here and make reasonable comments and comparisons to gear without getting attacked. If Fred does not have the time to manage the site put some admins in place with ban buttons to take care of this sort of thing. I'm sure he's giving people an opportunity to manage themselves but look how that's turning out. Its a war zone in here. So If you have a problem with me, escalate it upstairs and drop it on Fred's desk.

My proposal for your punishment is that you come live in Tennessee for 3 weeks and I come live at your house on VI in BC and photograph your beautiful island. So, I am banning you to TN for 3 weeks. It could be worse.

Never said or implied it was my forum, but the Sony section is obviously for Sony users or those interested in Sony. I’m not in the canon section making inflammatory comments about how Sony is equal or better than canon and how I’ve watched YouTube videos to confirm my decision. Your comments in this thread obviously haven’t been constructive and weren't intending to be. I also never attacked you, I just called you out as have others on your non productive comments. Lastly, I don’t have a problem with you and wouldn’t ignore you and I don’t need to get dad involved to settle anything. Have a good day.

I never made any inflammatory comments about the A1 on the other hand I compared it to a top notch camera like the R5, How can you say that's not a fair comparison. The R5 and R6 are the top selling cameras. the masses decide that not me. You need to watch more videos and read more reviews. Oh, stop running to your brothers and sister to attack me... we don't need them to settle your disputes.
Wow this puppy does get hot. It shut down from heat after a couple of hours just playing with it setting up the menus and custom controls while sitting on the couch. I set the temp cut-off to high and after another 30 minutes I think I could have fried an egg with it. There must be a heat sink in the bottom -- very noticeable and almost too hot to comfortably touch. Blew out the battery in three+ hours non-stop handling and that's not shooting much. Considering I've got all the settings maxed I didn't think that was too bad but I won't be heading out for the day without a pocket full of batteries that's for sure.
Your post may be funny. It is also obviously unhelpful to the topic and deliberately offensive to at least some of the participants. In other words you were indeed trolling. Of course a single troll-ish post doesn't make you a troll. But complaining about the reaction to that post makes no sense either.

That is weird. When I set it up I couldn't feel any considerable heat. First thing I usually do, however, is switch off all network stuff via airplane mode.
Yesterday at a German A1 Live Challenge, one Sony artisan reported his use in the Serengeti, filming 4k60p and shooting images. No issues at all with overheating. It can get hot when heavy used with video, but I think you could have an outlier.

You did. You are also smart enough to know it.
Do you realize we pay money to be here, I pay a yearly fee to access to this this site. this is not your forum or just for Sony users.
So since you are paying money to Fred, we are supposed to treat your opinions different? You sure you'd even want forums to work that way?
I really don't understand what you think you are doing here. You make a bold claim, back it with zero personal experience, point to irrelevant youtube videos and then complain when people attack your statements.
