Well if it makes you feel better, here it costs $9250 and estimated delivery of my order is currently March 15th. Covid vaccination is shit here too so looks like all my travel plans is going down the drain this spring and perhaps summer too.

FYI, there are about 3 flickr groups, Sony A1, Sony A1 wildlife, and another Sony a1 ilce-1. Only about 10 or so photos from Europeans in the Sony A1 group

So here is a response from B&H that I just got regarding the actual shipping date of the A1:
"The expected shipment dates for the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only)
is 03/04/21 the expected date that we will get stock, they will deliver (ETA) by 03/07/21. I
apologize for the delay. We are doing our best to get stock in and product out to our customers in
a timely manner, that has been a challenge as of late. We will fulfill our Pre-orders first, they are priority.
I hope that is helpful. We appreciate your patience and are grateful for your patronage."
I can post a screenshot if needed but I don't want to get anyone from B&H in trouble
So it looks like, B&H itself will get delivery on 3/4/2021. Depending on what time they will get the delivery, they will most likely start shipping on the 5th.

Yup. Even if it comes by 1030 Monday I'll be fine. Any later and I won't have time to set it up and make my drive, although I'd still being it and get is set up waiting for the short eared owls to come out

I talked to a camera store owner in Virginia and Sony advised him of a delay to 3/9. So we shall see soon. I pre-ordered the first day so I think I will get one of the first ones to arrive.

For those interested, I sent a message to B&H support regarding EDU pricing on A1 and was told that it was mistake from Sony and A1 is not included in special pricing right now that's why price changed to full retail.

Here is an update from Canada...
Allocations were given to dealers last Friday (ie not the cameras but how many they are getting and who gets them for SPS). My dealer (one of the larger ones in Canada) said "almost all" of their allocation for March 9th is going to SPS but not all.
Good news is one has my name on it so the testing/shooting will begin for me on March 12th or maybe a few backyard birds on the Wed/Thur before that.
But dealers in Canada (and presumably the US) should now know how many they are getting next week and how many are pre-assigned to specific SPS member. Call/email your dealer if you want to find out.

Interesting. As a SPS I contacted B&H and they had no idea and had no information shipping status. Very uninformative. Normally they do much better than this. I have an order in and Sony said they have contacted them but B&H has no info. ?

The A1 is the first camera body that I have pre-ordered.....I've owned several Sony bodies (and Nikon decades ago) but most have either been used or after-release new. I pre-ordered on release date, about 2 hours after BH made them available. Judging from past experiences, what would be a reasonable expectation of a ship date? I've tried calling BH all day and have a chat window going on 3 hours, so they are not much help right now.
