I used to shoot Canon 1D bodies. Big, heavy and expensive. I now shoot an A9II and love it. Based on the specs of the A1 I don't think $6500.00 is horrible for the leading edge technology that it offers. For the target user this will be a beast of camera!
I love that Sony continues to innovate and push the boundaries of photography. Eventually the A1 tech will trickle down into the A 7IV, or V, the A7R VI, etc. Call me a Happy Sony user!

Just kind of disappointed that it has S-Cinetone when the a7siii doesn't. The main reason I'm sticking to my a7siii instead of selling it and my a7riii off along with other stuff is for the flip screen on the a7siii. Also curious how the A1 is with low light video. Like if the processor or tech can compensate in low light for the 50mp small pixels compared to the 12mp ones.

Well, for those in the used market, I'd expect a lot of a9**'s and a7r***'s on the B&S Board. I'm in for the a1, even as a lowly hobbyist.
Yes, as a bottom feeder this is good news for me. I usually wait 8-10 years before upgrading a camera and I only bought an A7iii last year...by the time I'm ready to upgrade the A1 will be very affordable on the used market, and if I get the urge before then I'll be able to snatch up an A7r-series at a bargain.

Seems amazing on paper, high-res, high fps, stacked sensor (I assume worry-free e-shutter), flash-sync with e-shutter.... the only problem is price, but i think people who need and can make use of those features (esp video) can justify that.
Maybe the compromise is slightly lower DR (like A9 vs A7), slightly higher noise and large hole in the wallet.
For ME, I don't need hi-res and I need speed, I don't need speed (fps) when I want hi-res ...and 30fps is a bit too fast for me (nice but I'm not gonna pay for that...)

Real-time Eye-AF for birds, animals and humans.
Continuous shooting with AF-tracking even at f/22.
Flash with e-shutter, with flicker reduction, at 1/400s.

I assume Sony assumes "pros" will buy and use this camera for the Olympics. But if the Olympics are cancelled or curtailed in any way, I'm not sure there are enough photography "pros" around who have a use for a camera at this price. As for hobbyists, who knows...

Just an incredible camera, no way to state it otherwise.
For me- what has me most excited is the possibility of upgrading my A7R3 to an A7RIV to accompany my A7c for a reasonable cost...although those user bases might not overlap as much as I think.
