I was on the phone with Sony Pro Support yesterday (for another reason) but I did ask what they had for an ETA on the next batch to arrive in the US. He told me they had no ETA at the moment.
Thank you for the info!
Hope most Sony Pros already got their order fulfilled and not many are going to order a second one, which will further bump my order. Some people are still waiting for their first dose

Since some people now have their A1 in their hands, maybe someone can answer my question:
What is the maximum FPS with AF off (manual focus) and 1/60th sec exposure time? Maybe someone could test this for me. Thanks!
From my rough tests it seems to be about 20 fps.
When I up the SS to 1/250s (didn't check values in between) then I get 30 fps.
That is with Sigma 24-70 DG DN in MF and Manual (no auto-iso).

Thanks a lot for testing this for me. Sadly 20 FPS is a bit too low for generating a video sequence and 1/250 would look choppy.

I just managed to nab an A1 as a grey import to the UK. One of my local camera stores told me that they had 23 pre-orders and no stock last week so it was more a matter of delivery than price (although the price was very good). Comes with a 3 year warranty too. Now I just need to be patient for a week. That's the hard bit!

Interesting that they would have stock. Guessing it starts with a P and ends with a Z?

You understand that this camera has a little thing called 8K which does exactly what you’re after, right (I assume very high quality video)? Otherwise, 1/250th may not be the ideal shutter angle but it’s perfectly useful for certain sequences. I certainly wouldn’t describe it as ‘choppy’.

Yes, they had stock at 10am this morning and it was gone by 10.30! Just got lucky.
Although they send grey imports to the UK, I'm sure they sell to lots of other places in Asia too so I expect, to Sony, they are just another retailer that sell high volumes. So they probably get good supply.

You understand that this camera has no internal raw recording and that 4:2:0 10 bit compressed in H.265 doesn't deliver the same amount of color information and dynamic range as raw images, right?
And a shutter angle of 35° will not lead to smooth footage, unless you shoot something completely static.

Have any of the A1 owners turned on MS and listened to that thing? That has to be the oddest sounding MS I've ever heard. But it is fairly quiet as far as MS goes. Oh well...I will never hear it again as the A1 doesn't really need it for my type of photography.

I also don't plan on using MS at all, but I did get to hear it again today when I was testing EFCS effect on bokeh balls.
It sounds different, but I'd say nicely different (dampened) .

I did some stills photography yesterday and used it. I honestly had to stop for a second when I heard it. It's crazy quiet for a MS. Impressively so.

I fired it once, although I was tempted not to so in 5 years when I sell it I could say '0 shutter count' . It sounded..... squishy? don't really know how to describe it :-)

Even if you never use MS, the Sony bodies seem to fire off on shutdown on occasion as some sort of sensor cleaning or something? Also if you are using the closed shutter over the sensor that is going to count. My A9II which I can't recall using the MS for more than a few bursts has 1000 MS on it for whatever reason.

It's hot pixel remapping, which requires the shutter to be closed because it uses a dark frame.

Yes but why would you want to shoot raw images for a video sequence? Even disregarding the shutter angle you'll be dealing with the buffer. Outside of time lapses or short sequences it's not practical at all.

Yes, I know. It would be limited to about 5 seconds. But sometimes it could be useful. But it's not a dealbreaker for me if it doesn't work. It would be more of a bonus for certain rare situations. Think about a glorious high contrast landscape scene where 5 seconds would be sufficient and you need all the DR and lowest noise you can get.

With full sized jpegs embedded in raw files on the A1, what do you guys use your 2nd slot for? I have always done raw with one and jpeg with the other.
Also, has anyone tried one of the CF express cards in one slot and a 300mb/s uhs in the other? What happens if one is clear while the other isn't yet? Does it still allow you to shoot?
