Are you talking about the one with flowers comparing it to the R5? I liked what I saw in that one. We really need more files and real raw support in LR and C1 to start the judging.

Yeah, these type of samples sort of suck...so hard to say what is what.
In the one German video with the European Robin on the thumbnail, I was liking the IQ when he was punching in to the ISO 2500, 4000 and 6400 shots. Of course those were all jpegs but details were there and noise was fine. Throw a RAW into Topaz DN and I think things will be totally fine considering a 50MP sensor.
I also saw one video showing pushing from ISO 100 up to 12800 or something and it was way more invariant than the A7RIV.

I was just about to order as well. I wanted to sign up for Payboo first to avoid tax.
I preordered the second BH opened up and then cancelled and ordered another one when the EDU discount came out. The savings allowed me to justifty two 160GB CF Express cards instead of a 160 & 80. I notice that Sony makes a type B CF card with 1700 speed instead of the 800 the type 1 has I wonder when they will go to them or what they are even for. From the videios I have watched the type 1 clears almost instantly ten times quicker than the SD cards. That in itself is almost worth the upgrade price.
Seriously this camera has exceeded what anybody thought Sony would announce and by a wide margin. Nobody felt we would see 50mp at 20 fps let along 30 fps and with the EVF, new menus, 8x faster processor, dials, HDMI, CF cards, supposedly better ISO equal to the IIIs to 12,800 this camera is a no brainer.
I already sold the A9 it went in a day for 2300 and will sell my a7rIV the week they are shipping so my outlay is not much.
I will miss 61 MP but figure a little study with DXOprime, LR, Topaz I can make up for the mp loss. The only time I think we will notice it is with APS-C crop mode and we always have the option for pixel shift for stationary stuff where ultimate detail shines.
I get tired of hearing about how it compares to the R5 who the eff cares? I could care less if Canon came out with a camera that smokes the A1 my $50,000 investment in E-mount glass and love for Sony cameras is not going to change. If another mfg comes out with a better camera it is only temporary and Sony will leap frog that camera and continue to improve. In the mean time we still have a camera that surpasses anything we have used to date.
When they release a 80-100mp a7rV or hopefully one with dials like the A series I will buy one of those if it has the AF and rest of what the A1 has but only because I will want to not because we will need to. Right now I am probably more concerned about noise at this point since I shoot a lot of wildlife where ISO perfromance is important.

For my kind of shooting, the new A1 isn' t the camera. I' m a slow shooter and I definitely don't need all that speed. There' s only one camera that could make me sell my A7RIV and lenses....Fuji GFX 100s + 2/3 lenses. Teasing option. Not because I need to, but because I want to ofcourse.
But then again, I still would have to pay quite a lot of money and my A7RIV still works superb (and very happy with those files)! So, I' ll stay with my present camera...will even skip a possible newer version (A7RV?), and go for the A7RVI if it brings clear advantages in IQ department (at the moment I cannot imagine any progression here; love the A7RIV and no complains at all).

I think Sony will release A7rV sooner rather than later. It still needs a more direct competitor to R5 at the $3-4k price range. A1 is a competing more against the expected R1 instead.

It would be really nice to get a a7rv with no blackout, bigger buffer, some af improvements, and a better lcd.

I was wondering Sony going to redesign the battery grip VG-C4EM for A1, heard this will fit on A1. I don't think this will be prefect fit aesthetically since this was designed for A7R4. Since A1 slightly bigger there will be an overhang of the body on the grip, I guess. Any thoughts?

VG-C4EM is the official battery grip for the A1. Therefore, I don't think Sony will redesign it. I haven't read anywhere that the A1 is larger, at least not the bottom plate. I think I read some comments on DPR that the height of the camera was slightly taller and angle of the front shutter/wheel slope may be different (although that looks identical to me).

I wonder how well the new Sony A1 will perform with the Sony 200-600mm lens? This pair is a price point in my budget.

Mark Galer seemed happy with it:
Also this recent comment by Chris Dodds on his facebook sounds promising:
"Yes: That is a 2X between the Sony A1 and Sony 200-600. I can confirm this combination works well @30FPS. If you want more reach, simply turn on the APS-C mode and you have a 20MB file @1,800mm. Talk about a portable killer bird"

Can any body can PM me the link in the email from Sony Pro Support to register my A1 order number? I cannot find the email due to user error and just realized I did not fill out the form. Thanks!
